Will the US attack Venezuela? At first sight, this seems to be a very strange thing to ask. Why should America attack Venezuela? After all, Venezuela is not attacking America. Nor is it a country that poses any real military threat to the United States.
But a public campaign is now being waged that the Venezuelan government is actually a drug cartel and that it therefore poses a threat to the United States.
This clearly suggests that an attack on Venezuela is on the order of the day.

Trump saying now ukraine can’t win but can get peace deal by giving up parts of the dombas . The war would be over with across the board blanket sanctions but trump seems not prepared to do that, wonder why 🤷‍♂️
 
I'm of the opinion that was always going to happen Joe. Russia won't give up the territory they have taken.

A lot of lives wasted but I don't think the outcome will be any different.

Trump massively expanding ICE so its budgets larger than the entire defence budget of most countries worldwide, with these agents masked and with no uniform bundling innocents into vans and off to camps.

He's playing to his audience mate. He knows the buttons to push to cause a hysterical like response. And HIS voters won't object. And he doesn't care about those who don't vote for him.

Mate hes using his countries own armed forces as his personal army against his enemies, who are US citizens. Tell me what the reaction would've been if Obama or Biden did what hes doing? There'd be fucking armed militias outside the white house as we speak.

Neither does his voter base. And I think most big cities are democrat run although I'm no sure.

But Jimmy it does not matter a fuck what state a city may or may not be in. A president tooling up with his countries own armed forces and steaming into the cities run by his enemies is fascism in action mate. It should never, ever be entertained by anyone, in political, media, governmental, in fact any, circles of modern society. We've seen this played out over and over again in places where we condemned it to the nth degree for decades. How the fuck its happening in the USA, I despair.

Obama did it (deployed the national guard). Lyndon Johnson did it. JFK did it. Bush senior. Nixon. Others. Tbf most (perhaps all) were asked by local government. Then again in this case local government is refusing and indeed actively obstructing the laws of the land. I'm not saying it's right and I find it disturbing myself, but it's certainly a more complex picture than UK media allows. That local government is doing what it is doing at the expense of the nation as a whole as well as wrecking life for its own less affluent people.

Obama did not do what Trump is doing. I'd make the point about the big, big difference between what he did and what Trump is doing, but you did that for me in your next sentence :D Nah actually I will expand a wee bit cos its actually a bit mad when you think about it - he employed them against.. his own supposed supporters?! A bit mad, but not in a fascist sense, obviously!

You may have follow-up fears on local governments - interested in what those are btw - but I'm taking the position that no matter what those are, these actions by Trump are, and always will be, unjustifiable. Are you saying they could be justified? Cos if you're not, then its a bit moot surely. Some things can be pretty black and white.

Come on... There's nothing here not addressed in the post you are replying to, and it's point remains:

Several presidents have deployed the national guard to enforce the law at local request. Lyndon Johnson for one deployed against the governors wishes. Trump has deployed the national guard to enforce the law when state government was deliberately thwarting it. If the latter is without precedent (and I don't know - maybe not in Johnsons case) , Trump's part is still the reaction to the prior anti democratic action. And it is disturbing, as the whole picture is, as is the descent into tribalism of people picking up parts of it and ignoring the others.

People who live in gated communities sending the working class into a shit show and blacks into the morgue while rejecting the law are not disturbing to you while a president refusing that is? Really? Maybe it comes down to whether black or poor lives actually matter as opposed to making for a cool bumper sticker?

Both are disturbing to me. But it seems to me that some people get angry at fire while excusing people chucking matches onto petrol. They both worry me but I also think about cause and effect and the origin of blazes
