TRUMP IS A See you next Tuesday

I freely admit that it panders to my hatred of information technology, but this article suggesting that screen time might contribute to conditions resembling the light end of autism has a ring of truth to my ear.

Note my phrasing: the article also talks about the expansion of criteria which leads to ever wider diagnosis, leaving people with profound and debilitating conditions 'drowned out' as the author puts it.

I worked in IT for 35 years and have known countless 'on the spectrum' types, including one good friend, well before it became 'fashionable'. These were quirky people and recognisably different from the average dude. But I'll take some persuading that autistic is a better description for them than geek, because they usually led full lives in every respect and have basically nothing in common with people suffering a crippling condition.

If you talk to anyone in education, most of them will tell you, something is up with the kids. Is it autism? I don’t know the definition of autism and how it is being used but I know one kid that is obviously autistic and has been medically diagnosed as such. Another person I know has a wee boy about eight and there is something wrong with that kid, the dad never said he was autistic but said there’s something wrong with him and he blames the hospital where the kid was born and the drugs his wife received while pregnant. I thought you said somewhere about older people having kids which results in higher risk autism? Anyway, that is a remark I’ve heard numerous times from people I know in education. Old geezers having kids with young women, the kids seem “off”. Lots of rocking and fidgeting etc.
in regards to screen time, without a doubt that’s having an effect. A lot of kids can’t watch a full length movie these days, they don’t have the attention span.

The autism stuff is nonsense but I'd agree with the attention span stuff. Mobile phones have had a disastrous effect on the youth and the covid years made things worse.

Not only the youth. I regularly see folk walking dogs etc with a phone in front of their faces. Even more alarming is the number of drivers texting/scrolling whilst driving/sitting at junctions etc. Also pedestrians waiting to cross a road, too busy looking at their phones to notice that traffic has stopped for them.

Im always a wee bit sad when I see a mum, sometimes someone else, with their phones in their hand pushing a pram or walking along with a kid in the other instead of interacting with the youngster.

Or the sad sight of ma, dad, aulder bairns all walking along glued to the dog and bone.

We nearly hit a daftie on Minto Street last year. She had the earphones on, hood up and jogging with her dug on a leash.

Never once did she look around and as we were turning left she just ran in front of us.

A quick blast of the horn and she was wailing about her 'right' to cross the road without looking.

Wasn't bothered about the bint but the poor dug might have got hurt.

The scenario I see often is similar but it’s the, pyjamas and crocs clad, ‘mother’ strolling along texting or otherwise glued to their phone with a toddler trailing along yards behind them expected to not wander onto the road. A society of mawngs.

Apparently the law has been changed whereby vehicles have to give way to pedestrians even under the circumstances you describe Jimmy. It’s all part of the plan to remove vehicles from the roads.

Yep Beagle ye be correct mate. A recipe for disaster.

As folk mentioned dafties on their phone in the car and daftie pedestrian.

What's the point of teaching bairns the green cross code if the government say it's ok not to use it.

Agree with everyone here. Another one - and the theme referenced in the article I posted - is the toddler pacified with an iPad. In restaurants, where a family meal should be part of their socialisation process, they are often parked with an iPad to shut them up.

According to the article such passive consumption from a device that does not react to emotional cues like expressions, might be impacting their development in this regard.

Aye Kev but I'm finished my toil for the day so I can be absolved from point you made.

So there.

Toddlers or wee kids with electronic gadgets to keep them amused I can live with.

BUT TURN THE FUCKIN SOUND OFF OR GIVE THEM FUCKIN EARPHONES :52::52::52:

Went out with friends for a meal a few weeks back and there was a party of about a dozen adjacent with two sprogs dinging and binging at full volume. None of the "adults" (I use the term advisedly) noticed, or cared, but it meant I couldn't hear the conversation at my table properly.

Luckily I had my phone so I just started posting shite on the Bounce instead.

Worst one I've seen in a while was two mum's pushing prams with primary 1 or 2 age children walking 20 yards ahead. They had the jammies and Ugg boot combo both on their phones and a big spliff each.

Mobiles are having a huge corrosive effect on adults too. You only have to stand in a bus q to see everybody staring at their phones watching some stupid shit to pass the time. The biggest effect on kids is the effect on their social skills. I was told that employers now ,in many cases, have to guide kids through interviews as many just can't have proper conversations for any length of time. I'm not sure it's autism as I've experienced it in my family. Just kids not curious, not active physically and mentally so come across as slightly autistic. Imho.

Kirks alleged assassin was a Mormon, maybe lapsed, certainly brought up as one.

Cuunts on the bus as well who play videos at full blast an aw. Annoys the shit out of me. When did this kind of behaviour become acceptable?

People. People are the problem.

Paraphrased from Douglas Adams. Perceptive though. Lots of people have always been daft/horrible/boring/Darwin Award Candidates, you just see it more now because of the internet and we move around more.

Well people are people, for sure. Which is why imo any political or philosophical system would do well to found itself in recognition of that rather than utopianism which either ignores or thinks it can 'fix' it.

"From the crooked timber of humanity, nothing exactly straight can be built.” as some @@$@ once observed !

WTF is that fat fuckin orange cvnt talking about ? I though Joe Biden was a slaver but fuck me Trumps just spraffin a load of fuckin shite.

Totally. Groups of kids were playing their shit on the bus recently and the driver told them in no uncertain terms to turn it off or they were getting ejected from the bus. Thank feck some guys won't put up with this. Hate bus journeys if I don't have my headphones and have to put up with folks behaviour. I'm sure we were arseholes when we were kids but we knew how far we could push it. Too many kids, not all of them don't seem to see where the boundaries are now. The lack of self awareness is really sad to see.

What's worse is folk actually pay attention to his utter bullshit. So infuriating seeing cnn and others dissecting and arguing over his utter nonsense. Stop giving him the oxygen of publicity.
It would be unwise to ignore his 'bullshit'. The erratic behaviour and unpredictability of the most powerful man on the planet goes without saying, however what he says should not be ignored as simply ephemeral blether.

Cracks in Trump's coalition as once more pro labour populists are pitted against the silicon valley boys

H1-B visas are used to import cheaper 'guest workers' to undercut American labour, particularly in industries like tech. Its a bit like 'onshore offshoring' where the labour os brought to the US but remains indentured to the company that shipped them over.

"There has always been an obvious contradiction between the claim that American workers are less skilled than H-1Bs and the practice of corporations like Disney of laying off American workers and then requiring some of them to train their H-1B replacements, ostensibly on penalty of losing their severance pay.'

I have witnessed this process and its aftermath numerous times. Fear of being seen as racist is an effective control mechanism over here.

"The debate about H-1Bs does not fall along conventional Left-Right lines. For decades, the chief criticisms of the programme came from organised labour on the Left, which viewed H-1B visa-holders as “scabs” undercutting the bargaining power of individual workers and unions. Recently the populist Right has joined with the labour Left in attacking Silicon Valley’s heavy reliance on foreign contract workers."

Crikey. Imagine a UK union coming out with stuff like that, rather than funding 'stand up to racism' strikebreakers to land in communities decimated by importation of cheaper labour. But then their members are paid from government borrowing which is enabled by the number of workers in the economy even if it fucks non-insulated labour.

Because he was played by putin like a fiddle, he now blames everyone else for the continuous conflict in Ukraine. Blanket sanctions across the board could have stopped the war in it’s tracks . The mememe man fcuked up and his constant backing of Israel will fcuk that up as well . No chance of a deal there 😡
As for all his fake news pish, he is the biggest perpetrator of that . Bleach, paracetamol etc 🤡

I found this a fascinating podcast from someone that Trump has disowned. He obviously sees himself as a candidate in 2028 so treads carefully to not upset the Trump/MAGA lot. That said I thought at times he very effectively challenged Campbell and Stewart. I'd recommend a listen.

Found out which side this guy was on yet?

Apparently he had a trump poster thingy in his garden. But the story I seen was from the guardian.

Whoever he supports he deserves all he gets the murdering cvnt.
