TRUMP IS A See you next Tuesday

The popular vote, mainly in frustration at the political establishment.

It’s probably going to happen here soon.
Yeah most likely, they interviewed two locals in Greenland who said the people where going to line the streets and turn there backs to Vance and co, hence why Vance never left the military base, zero Greenlanders present at his speech, says it all. Didn't wear a suit either, disrespectful man 😉

Trump is a modern day Hitler without the brains Its more than concerning. The world needs to weaken up quite quickly. There are a few on here , which is a microscopic of the world in general, who think he actually has a valid view on the world and it's dedicated outcomes .
We should all be afraid for our children.

Trump talking how China wants Greenland and a whole load of other pish, how Americans voted for these loonys ill never know.
China does want Greenland.

Vance may be an arse, but it doesnt mean he's wrong on this.

The reason they are doing this, however wrong it is, is that while previous administrations have been asleep at the wheel, China has been busy colonising africa, winning over the 'global south' along with Russia, and being far more active in the arctic than the US.

Vance's appraisal of the shifting power in the world is entirely realistic, again independent of the obnoxious bully boy tactics they have adopted in response.

Almost more to the point than anything Trump says on it;

We are living through history. The world is changing so fast that it's hard to keep up with. Even in my long years of tediously predicting western democracy collapsing I never quite expected this. Much as it is horrific to us it all makes so much sense when you are prepared to look at it with their brutal clarity; globalism and post 60s decadence (and then post cold war decadence upping the ante) destroyed the west and hastened the end of American dominance (which so many in europe claimed to want til the bill came due).

This is what a reckoning with that looks like. We are back to how it always was before the pax Americana.

Trump just pardoned a convicted fraudster called Trevor Milton. He was done for fraud. He scammed investors out of over $100million. He was found guilty, sentenced to four years and ordered to repay the money. Trump, who claims he doesn't know him, just pardoned him. No jail time and no requirement to repay the money.

Fun fact 1: he donated $1.8million to Trump.

Fun fact 2: his lawyer's sister is Pam Bondi, the Attorney General.

But nothing to see here.

When Trump is eventually voted out i imagine he'll have triple the court cases that he had previously.

Wow! America, really is the land of the free. Even convicted criminals 😏

No free trade without free speech says Trump. Shouldn’t be the hardest of his demands to meet, and certainly the most reasonable ?

Mind you this was broadly the long term intent (or excuse perhaps) when China was admitted to the WTO. Didn’t do much good in improving things there, and while Britain is not yet China it sometimes seems that many in the boss class would like it to be,

Trumps spokeswoman is a confident bint is she no? I dinnae necessarily agree wi what she is saying but fuck me she's good.

As the world holds it's breath for epoch making, “Liberation Day”.

Trumps Tariff Programme Deepens Protectionist Tendencies In World Economies.

After the Wall Street Crash of 1929, the various nations in Europe and the United States resorted to protectionism to attempt to export the crisis. Following the crash of 2008 parallels are being drawn.

One thing that has to be said for the big Orange blimp is that it appears - though the tale of the tape will come tomorrow - that he really is intent on giving it the big fuck you to the capitalist class, to the point of pulling the whole show down in defence of American labour.

Now you can argue it’s barking - and I would, myself - but I do have to wonder at the doublethink of corbyn / sanders fans of the bourgeois kind, who have a complaint here.

Some argue that he is even pursuing a strategy I’ve mentioned in relation to Britain, while admitting its nuclear bomb stuff whose implications I don’t understand; devaluing the currency so that domestic labour can compete with China et al

If there is anything to this it’s breathtaking in terms of accepted poltical alignments. It would entail absolutely savaging the wealthy in favour of the plebs. Which is not as cool as it sounds, if it doesn’t work out, because it could also mean tanking the economy to the detriment of all.

Still it’s quite possibly the only way to reverse the endless punking of the proles. Shit or bust as the yanks might say.

10% Tariff for UK, same as we charge them.
I hadn’t appreciated in all the brouhaha so far, that aside from the UK and some others who impose 10% tariffs on the US - which have been matched - the tariffs imposed on other countries are basically half what they impose on the US.

Maybe I’m missing something but that doesn’t seem completely outrageous, especially as most of those countries have a lower cost of production.

I mean how can country x be mad at America putting a tariff on them, that is half of what they put on America? I feel I must be missing something here, can anyone help me out?

Is he just talking pish about the tariffs imposed on the US?

He's actually trying to pull America out the shit and improve the country, not that the media will portray it that way. I don't like the man, I like what he's doing overall though for the country.

You have to bear in mind that Trump and the truth are about as comfortable bedfellows as Trump and Melania.

Taking the EU the average tariff on both sides is about 1%, and the US trade deficit is around €50 billion or 3% of total trade. So when Trump imposes his 20% market access tariff you can bet your bottom dollar that the EU will reciprocate. It's a rucking shit show and we will all pay for the repercussions.

Here's the actual trade figures with the EU in more detail...

Total bilateral trade in goods reached €851 billion in 2023. The EU exported €503 billion of goods to the US market, while importing €347 billion; this resulted in a goods trade surplus of €157 billion for the EU.

Total bilateral trade in services between the EU and the US was worth €746 billion in 2023. The EU exported €319 billion of services to the US, while importing €427 billion from the US; this resulted in a services trade deficit of €109 billion for the EU.

When goods and services are taken into account, the EU has a small surplus with the US of €48 billion; this is the equivalent of just 3% of total EU-US trade (€1.6 trillion). It should also be noted that the EU has a trade deficit with the US when it comes to trade in services, where the US records a surplus of €109 billion.

Considering the actual trade in goods between the EU and US, in practice the average tariff rate on both sides is approximately 1%. In 2023, the US collected approximately €7 billion of tariffs on EU exports, and the EU collected approximately €3 billion on US exports.

In what way is a new sales tax going to help American households? This is not about helping anyone it's about leveraging power simply because he can and he enjoys doing so.
