TRUMP IS A See you next Tuesday

again I’m going to use my previous analogy to try and bring the implications of this to the fore: if the UN drew lines through Scotland and declared Strathclyde to be a different country, and if it subsequently went Pete Tong; do you really feel the rest of Scotland would have no greater obligation to weegies than the people of Palestine would, or the people of Tanzania or Timbuktu?

put it this way in the advent of a united Ireland I'd seriously consider resisting the wholesale re-patriotisation of our 'kin' to the west. Timbuktu is a beautiful piece of real estate
I’m happy to leave it also but you’ve not got my point from the outset.

- it may seem to Trump that it’s better for people to live in peace in newly built places within other parts of their ancestral greater Syria, than in the razed Armageddon and constant violence of Gaza

- and it may even be the case that could be correct, assessed in purely material terms
theoretically in a universe with infinite possibilities its possible if suppose I just think we cant make that assertion/judgement
- but it’s not a question answerable in purely material terms. Blood and soil affinity to specific land (which they are quite within their rights to feel), a wider view that no non Muslim population is entitled to govern anywhere in the region (or even exist in any number sizeable enough to be influential) and a bunch of other things more wholesome and less, are all in the mix and can’t be wished away by rationalist materialism
agreed

The FT suggests that rate of US inflation is expected to be down. This against jumps last two Januaries. The figures aren’t out till tomorrow though so they’re speculating / educated guessing.
not so educated apparently:

If i were to run, I'd run as a Republican. The're the dumbest group f voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they'd still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific.
Fat Orange convicted felon and rapist Trump
Peoples Magazine 1998.

Nothing on the thread so far suggests that the radge is out of the "hes a *&*^ camp". Anyone feel hes now not a *&*^? The removal of the penny maybe
People Magazine deny that was said . 🤷‍♂️
But am sure that was his thinking at that time and he got it right then and now !

They (Republican lawmakers)all bend the knee to Trump.
Just like he is doing at the feet of the murderous Putin.
His opinions and threats on Gaza are extremely dangerous.
No matter how others think neighbouring countries view the Palestinians ,they will be shocked at the White House's resident psychopaths comments on "owning" the Strip, and evicting the Palestinians !
We should all be concerned on his insanity unfolding daily ,and with his love for Putin, the West is witnessing dangerous times due to this lunatic.
Many millions of Americans are scared of his actions, and he has only been in post 3 weeks!

Liked this quote 👇
He wanted to rename the Gulf of Mexico after himself.
But the Bay of Pigs was already taken.

It's Friday, it's five to five and Trump is still a *&*^.
amen !

reading the republican budget plans are out and they propose a trillion dollars in spending cuts, and four and a half trillion dollars in tax giveaways to the wealthiest americans and biggest corporations! yes, along with him betraying Ukraine (other opinions are available) hes firmly in the *&*^ camp at casa emerald.

Let's wait and see EGers but we do have to look beyond msm coverage. Tax cuts create jobs - well that's the idea anyway. Plus last time they were proportionately bigger for the less well off.

At the end of the day countries need to raise more revenue and spend less or they're gonna go bust and that will be catastrophic. Trump may or may not achieve progress on this front but if someone doesn't find a way....

I'm uncomfortable with huge tax cuts for the richest but I'm now personally convinced that taxes if too high (I'd argue it is here in UK) absolutely kill any economic growth. And therefore tax cuts can absolutely stimulate economic activity and growth.

Countries with sovereign currencies cannot go bust.

aye, was just watching a dem senator, those were his headlines.

Reading elswhere of job losses in the here and now, with more losses in the pipeline. But aye, its a wait and see.

Aye, was just highlighting where the wind was blowing over there. Im not seeing much wins for your average american. 4.5t in tax cuts to big corps and the wealthiest seems excessive in the extreme. Think prices are doing nothing but rising.

Tax cuts create jobs? If only it were so, tax cuts increase wealth for those who have it, whether they use that for job creation enterprise or just buy more property or spunk it on vanity projects is open to debate

I think you will find almost every country that has ever gone bust had its own currency,

Where do you get this stuff from Bossie? Someone is selling you a pup.

1) How do you think jobs are created in a world of cheap globalised labour, when you have high taxes on top of high labour costs, high energy costs, and high real estate costs ?

2) Why would people put capital at risk if it’s not worth their while and they can just buy up property instead, driving property prices up? Ever noticed that house prices have rocketed in tandem with tax and spend?

Which country has 'gone bust'? What do you think that means?

Defaulting on debt, in technical terms. But I'd add in currency collapse in practical terms.

And the list is long.

Printing money deflates the currency, which is how we avoided going kaput in 2008. But it has devalued sterling massively and enduringly against both Euro and USD. You can’t keep doing this forever, well not if you want to import anything anyway, or stop businesses and individuals fucking off before their loot turns to Monopoly money.

Germany effectively went bust in 1923 due to hyperinflation. The Rentenmark was introduced to replace the Reichsmark, which was utterly worthless by then. By December 2023, 1 US dollar was worth 4,210,500,000,000 RM. Probably the most famous instance of a country with a sovereign currency just printing money.

He has not only betrayed Ukraine (he has put the world in danger if he does turn his back on Zelensky.
China might sense weakness, then they invade Taiwan)
Also NATO, The EU /UK ,The Gazans and the American People ! All betrayed !
The major Unions, for God sake, endorsed him.! Betrayed!
He was not elected to do what he is doing now.! He wasnt!
Maga Cultists have been duped ..Again !
Inflation,Eggs and Groceries! ,Aye ,ok Trump 😡
You would think once bitten ? NOPE !
No ! the rednecks and racists got him back in. The fking Insurrectionists won !
Their dangerous fascist leaders all got pardons .And are back ! wae their big rifles !
One was recently shot by the cops.Others re arrested on other charges.
Others are threatening retribution on prosecutors.judges. 🤯
It is awful and its somewhat surreal .But its happening !

The US fell asleep , many many millions did not vote , evidence of voter suppression !
Corruption of mailing ballots !
It was all there in Project 2025 !
He denied it, yet he is doing it .Tearing that nation apart !
Why o why did these people believe Fox and those right wing podcasters
The corporate ms and cable media in the US abdicated their role too .
CNN especially, they folded in face of his threats.
Sad too, i like some their anchors who despise this goings on!..and Trump.

The left(liberals/Dems) need to organise and take Congress in the mid terms 2026.
Salvage something from this de-struction that is affecting, or wiil the whole world.
The West has not witnessed such a maniac as the leader of a Western nation since Mussolini,Hitler ,Franco and Salazar.
Musk pumping cash into the war chests of Fascist Parties in Europe is also very disturbing .
I despair for the youth and minorities in the US, who need to rally to stop this runaway train !!

Or someone gets 3rd time lucky !

How do you know when Donald is lying?
He open his mouth.
In his first term, then on the campaign trail this time
He was fact checked and it was shown/proven he had lied thousands of times.
Yes ,thousands of times.!
He makes Nixon look like a choir boy,and Bush 2 the boy scout.

And look how that turned out.

The trope that we can never run out of money we can print is guntonomic levels of delusion for the most part, and on the part of some is a deliberate strategy to collapse society as it is.

It's still a traumatic historical memory in Germany along with WWII and The Thirty Years War.

My point was not that it is impossible just that it's not inevitable. House prices have rocketed with inequality and because tax system incentivises rentiers.

I think Musk done that deliberately. He's now all across the media and centre of outraged attention.
Of course he did jimmy,Its what fascists do 😁

Vance is a nonentity really,(Just a mouthpiece for now to visit places donald is feart tae He is still a felon) unless the Orange Man checks out before 2028
Musk however is the kind of guy we use to send for Jame Bond to sort out .
A totally dangerous Megalomaniac

House prices mainly rocketed because borrowing became cheap, due to the government’s own large borrowing. And because of distorted demand arising from mass migration and atomisation of the population (lower density of occupation).

There are no guarantees that tax cuts will create a jobs boom by the way, it just makes it more likely. For sure, tax increases make it less likely.

@GORDONSMITH7

I’ve taken the liberty of dragging you over here. I’m fair enjoying our chat but we were starting to fork the Israel thread something rotten, as you noted.

I like this guy, a young, black, Swedish Marxist, albeit of a modernist type. This is his take on what we have been discussing :

His tldr; it’s fucked beyond repair. The stuff that has the liberal establishment in hysterics is actually small beer, the whole system is failed and will fall. I think he’s right, though I think that Trump is at least what the yanks sports fans call a ‘Hail Mary’. Europe doesn’t even have that.

“Even more worryingly, we’ve been here before. In 1788, France was also drowning in debt, and also had an executive desperate trying to correct the tailspin. No less striking, the Ancien Régime also had a legislature too broken to find solutions — but not so broken it couldn’t spend its time blocking attempts at reform. As for today, future historians won’t remember the squabbles around USAID: that just isn’t the story of our age. What matters instead is a financial system in ruins, a political class out of ideas, and the inevitability of a 1789 moment sooner or later.”

Over the course of the c21 US national debt has gone from 5.7 to 36 trillion dollars. GDP has gone from 10.25 trillion to 27.3. We’re in the end game.

Just another guy lying to himself with the same old bourgeois tropes; sexism, racism, blah, blah, blah

The irony is that his psychobabble fits himself perfectly: it’s the worldview of old (probably affluent) white guys like him that is disappearing over the horizon, and oh boy what an ‘extinction burst’ goes with it.

Whatever else does or does not happen, the domination of white liberal dinosaurs is done. A browning America has no time for this honky bs, and more to the point, the money has ran out.

Dunno if your last paragraph is necessary, or accurate mind.

So, just to sum up - you dismiss everything he says, yes? And don't answer a question with a question. Just answer

Yes. I don’t think he could be more wrong tbh. It’s almost completely inverted.

It’s almost a mission statement for the point I have been making again and again; identity politics has licensed America’s affluent to exploit the poor and feel good about doing so.

Out of the horses mouth we have a clear as you like repositioning of the working class, the poor and the exploited, as privileged bigots, deserving of a takedown - one that benefits the actually privileged. His one virtue is he says it a lot more succinctly than I have done. He frames the left’s abandonment of labour in one soundbite.

He's also demonstrably wrong about his fantasy beginning with Obama's election, indeed in the same breath he states that he names things that predate it.

Even on incidentals he is incorrect; psychology and political sciences are not science. I rather doubt he'd be as fond of real science.

He compresses an impressive amount of wrongness into a short space tbh

Interesting article with Bannon here. By his telling Trump is using the techbros. He (Bannon) is also already exploring a third term.

Musk et al and Maga are surely on collision course with completely incompatible ideals. Musk remains a global capitalist extraordinaire which is kinda diametrically opposed to the Trump base.

“Musk is a parasitic illegal immigrant. He wants to impose his freak experiments and play-act as God without any respect for the country’s history, values, or traditions.” Steve Bannon doesn’t hold back when I meet him in the basement of his Washington townhouse.”

[…]

“This is a historic day,” Bannon reflects. “If you weld together the MAHA movement with MAGA and add in Hispanics, African-American men, and conservative Right-wing Asians, we have a 1932 coalition” — a reference to FDR’s sweeping first victory. He takes a long pause. “And yes, we have the tech bros too.”

[…]

“To me the Atlanticists are quite frankly the most racist people in the world because they only think about white people in Western Europe and the United States. They don’t have any other broad perspective.”

[…]

“For Bannon, though, the AI threat is greater still. At last week’s Paris conference, Vance promised a “pro-worker growth path for AI”, but the War Room host is convinced this will simply empower the Chinese state, as well as oligarchs in the US. “We have let the wealthiest people in America soar to the commanding heights of the algorithmic age with no controls,” he says. “They have created an apartheid state. You don’t have to hire any blacks or Hispanics in this country. Or even American citizens.”

[…]

“Bannon worries that the rise of AI will not only take blue-collar jobs but entry-level jobs at a technical and administrative level too. “We can’t let these techno-vandals randomly hop from one core institution to another, spray-painting garbage graffiti with no intention of ever cleaning it up.”

He also slams DOGE for being performative and too chickenshit to take on the Pentagon.
