Donald Trump could barely contain his excitement after the Daily Mail exclusively revealed he shares royal blood with King Charles III.

The Daily Mail revealed on Monday that the President is related to the King via their shared ancestor in the 3rd Earl of Lennox, a great-grandson of King James II of Scotland.

“Charles agrees with me - even more than I do.” Is there no end to the utter crap he speaks?

Jorge Martin (RCP)

We have been saying this for some time now. The US has no good options in Iran, because it has already lost the war. 46 days of military action did not achieve ANY of the military aims of the US-Israel campaign of imperialist aggression. Strikes did not destroy the ability of Iran to retaliate and hit targets in Israel and the Gulf Countries, it did not severe the link between Iran and its regional allies, it did not push Iran to make concessions regarding its nuclear program, and above all, far from weakening the political and military leadership, it strengthened the regime.

Furthermore, Iran ended up with full control over the Strait of Hormuz, giving it leverage over the world economy and a profitable source of income.

That, defeat in the battlefield, is what pushed Trump towards the ceasefire. But one cannot achieve at the negotiating table what one has not conquered in the battlefield. Negotiations failed because the US wanted to extract Iranian capitulation.

For all the bluster, threats and ultimatums, Trump was forced to extend the ceasefire, sine die.

Not only that, but when he was desperate to resume talks in Islamabad he was humiliated (as Merz pointed out for his own reasons) by the Iranians, who, quite rightly, demanded that the US naval blockade be lifted before any serious negotiations could take place. They said that otherwise they would not turn up. Witkoff and Kushner were ready to get on the plane, but Iran stuck to its position.

The US naval blockade of Iran is a recognition that the aims of the war could not be achieved by military means and an attempt to achieve them by economic means. It cannot work. Iran has ways and means of circumventing and resisting the blockade. The blockade will cause unbearable damage on the world economy and US gas prices much earlier than it can force Iran to make substantial concessions.

The US is left with no good options. It has three possible courses of action:
- Military escalation has already proven worthless and Iran has threatened to respond in kind with four-fold retaliation.
- A continuation of the status quo, that is, neither peace nor war but naval blockade, will not move the situation one inch in the direction of the US war aims.
- A complete US withdrawal without achieving any of its military aims would be a humiliating capitulation.

So, faced with this impossible scenario, it seems Trump has decided ... to do the three things at once.

It is continuing the blockade, in the mistaken believe that it will provoke physical damage to Iran's oil production (but Trump said oil wells were going to blow up in three days, and that deadline has already gone).

At the same time Reuters is reporting that US intelligence is probing what would the Iranian response be if it walked out of the war altogether.

And finally, Trump is leaking to the media its intention to carry out a short sharp campaign of military strikes.

However, the fact that he had an hour and half long phone conversation with Putin would seem to indicate that he is desperately looking for Russia to help him find a way out. Also, this morning, Brent crude was trading at 122 dollars a barrel, a full 20% higher than last week. Yields on the US 30 year treasury bonds have also spiked to close to the 5% mark which has forced Trump to back off on previous occasions.

The main thing to understand is that whatever he does, it will be wrong. As the Iranians have said they have the advantage on three key aspects of the conflict: munitions, markets and mid-terms.

The best scenario for the US is negotiations on Iran's terms in three phases: 1) opening up of the Strait of Hormuz, 2) a deal leading to Iranian control of the Strait, 3) talks Iran's nuclear program, where the most that the US will get is an Iranian moratorium for a few years and perhaps a dilution of the current stock of enriched uranium. In exchange the Iranians will get lifting of sanctions.

All of this will be a MUCH WORSENED situation that the deal the Iran offered during the talks that the US torpedoed by starting the war.

Overall, the US will be humiliated and its world position weakened, the Russia-China-Iran axis will be strengthened internally and in its standing in the world. Israel will be weakened in the region and Iran strengthened. The Gulf countries will have to submit to Iran's demands and move away from the US (with the possible exception of UAE). The world economy will suffer a severe hit for months to come. The rift between the US and Europe will have become deeper.

A genius move on the part of Trump.

BIG G

No doubt about it, Trump is a madman.
He does not care about the world, NATO, the -sycophants who stand behind him. He does not even care about the USA.
He only cares about number 1, himself, and his legacy. Hence ballrooms, statues, monuments, pools etc.
Let’s hope the midterms render him a lame duck, then his legacy can be turned into ridicule.
I can tell you now, J.D. little Mario, Hegseth and the likes will be queuing up to stab him in the back.

Notice, two days ago Iran hit Israel with a whole lot of ballistic missiles. When Israel retaliated Trump condemned their response telling them to suck it up.
But one day later when a US helicopter gets shot down he goes on full attack saying no one attacks us and gets away with it.
What a Hypocritical pig!
