The uk government hasn’t half turned into a grovelling mess over the fat orange arsehole’s re-election.
Mind you, it’s not just the uk. Mexico has also shat itself from him. Panama will be caving in soon too I’d imagine as will Denmark over America’s intent to basically invade Greenland. Will the Canadians show a bit more backbone or will they succumb to being the 51st state as the trumpet has stated?
Do they believe his hype that he’s the new messiah because he tells everyone that it’s god’s will?
On the subject of the R&A, at least, for now, somebody in the world still has the (golf) balls to tell the fucker to bolt

I wouldn't say so much his defenders Archie I would say that the likes of myself can see why he romped the election.

He gave blue collar America some hope (probably false) but at least tried to address their concerns.

I don't see any Trump defenders on here? I think what I see on here is some folk that can see and understand how some of his actions and decisions would resonate with folk across the pond particularly in response to some of the woke nonsense etc. And also in reaction to the absurdity of today's Democrats. I don't think his unhinged response to the Reagan Airport tragedy will surprise many.... I know of nobody on here that actually wanted a Trump Presidency?

This reminds me of a study I read about where people were asked to decide if one or other of a geometric and a hand drawn and squiggly circle were in fact circles. Apparently - at least according to the progressive press crowing about the findings - conservatives stuck with the former while liberals picked both. This was - as with all the very many such exercises designed to pathologise the resistance - declared to be evidence of conservatives being rigid in their thinking.

And then one columnist pointed out another interpretation; it differentiated between people identifying what is objectively the case, and others identifying what subjectively they think ought to be the case.

About the trade tarrifs.Karoline Leavitt the White House press secratery was asked about a trade war between Canada and the USA leading to electricity being cut off in the USA answered something like-'We needn't worry about Electricity Cuts;Jesus Christ got on just fine without electricity also'.

The opposite is true. They specifically said they wanted to stay out of politics so wouldn't be keen to have The Open at a venue so clearly politicised. Absolute certainty Trump would turn up at Turnberry if the tournament was played there, would become a circus.
The R&A will tell any government to mind it's own business, they'll be about alot longer than any PM. Plus they're taking The Open to The Republic of Ireland in 2029, they've got no shortage of venues. Turnberry is excellent though, played it a couple of times.
 
Saw this and sums up why I don't know why anyone would vote for him.

So, to recap, this sabre rattling has got

- Colombia and Venezuela to take violent criminals back (some pundits dispute all Colombians are), but I read that Venezuela has been sending bangers north as Cuba did previously (see Scarface)

- Mexico and Canada to stop open doors on Fentanyl traffic and in the former case, I assume also to migration.

The contrast with the UK’s can’t do anything stance is quite striking.

Well something has improved. How effective the Mexicans and Canadians will prove to be, time will tell. But absent a Time Machine you can only start at the beginning.

It's just bait and switch. Thunderous declarations of tariffs with totally vague objectives. Then declare victory with no obvious gains. For example the 10,000 troops on the Mexican border was a Biden initiative achieved by quiet negotiations. No bellicose grandstanding required.
