Good article about Xabi Alonso, Mikel Arteta, and Andoni Iraola, who all essentially grew up together, and now manage Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool, which is absolutely wild when you think about it!
 
Who would want to play in our league. Our teams are getting beat by 5 or 6 goals regularly in europe. No semi decent player will want to come here. Funny how hibs have not found another benji or zemmama. That woud help. Or some random french players like boozy who could teach our young players. One can but dream.

Loved Zemmama. Spanish market seems to be completely absent from Hibs scouting. Maybe they are expensive or don’t fancy the weather / league but you’d think with the number of players they have in Spain we could entice a couple of useful players.

We got Benji and Zemmama because Tony Mowbray was tipped off about them by a contact.
Almost all major clubs now rely on their recruitment teams, analytics etc with the manager completely divorced from the scouting and signing of players.

To me that team had a great balance of up and coming youth players and foreign talent that offered something different to players available on the domestic market. It’s totally gone too far the other way now I think.
