But it's still based around the same premise; before and after the life of Christ. It's just been renamed to avoid offence. Like Windscale was renamed Sellafield to dispel images of two-headed sheep but it's still a nuclear power station.
Wouldn't it just be simpler if something for example happened in 2000 bc to say 4000 years ago and do away with it altogether?

The muslim calender starts in the year of the hijrah to do with the prophet mohamed, i doubt if theyll be changing it any time soon to appease the easily offended

This........

Heartwarming moment mute man is able to speak through incredible experimental chip in his brain... as his emotional three words to his wife are revealed

A man robbed of his ability to speak by ALS has told his wife 'I love you' again after an experimental chip implanted in his brain transformed his thoughts into words.

But in an extraordinary glimpse of technology that could one day transform the lives of people unable to speak, Mandable has effectively been given his voice back.

An experimental chip by Neuralink was implanted in the speech motor region of his brain and detects neural activity as he attempts, and eventually simply thinks about speaking.

Artificial intelligence then decodes those signals, turning his intended words into text and speech through a computer.

During one deeply emotional demonstration, Mandable looked toward his wife, Lori, and thought three simple words.

'I love you.'

The words appeared on a screen before being spoken aloud. It was an overwhelming moment for Lori who appeared astonished at what she had just heard.

That’s the equinox fur ye. Typical though that darn sarf gets an extra minute and poor Delting Hibby loses one.

Another not really today I learned but I can't think of a better thread unless I was to start one Today I overheard on the bus!

Freshers week and 4 young students from different countries got on and sat behind me. They started chatting about supermarkets, Sainsbury's and Aldi mostly and one of them asks the German if he shops at Aldi because of national pride 😆

Anyway the chat progresses and the German loudly asks the others "Do you use cocaine powder?" The bus fell silent, WTF! "Cocaine powder?" the others ask and everyone on the bus wants to know the answer. "Yeah cocaine powder. You get it to make pasta and zoup." After more confused chatter ... Ahhhhhhh cooking powder thought everyone on the bus.

Posh Germans apparently don't use Schwartz 🤣

France is fucked. Could be the first democracy to go in Europe. ☹️

But surely that is democracy in action where folk vote for the party they think will represent them.

I would say questioning WHY the RN, AfD, Sweden Democrats etc are seen as the best option for folk.

What are the mainstream troughers doing wrong that are pissing folk off?

Vote for who you like then you get what you voted for.

The grauniad is going to go into full meltdown soon because folk don't think the same way the guardian gadgies do.

I agree with you Jimmy, but if Le Pen wins the presidency the left will get violent very quickly. I feel there could be serous civil unrest.
You're right about the causes though. Mainstream political parties all over Europe have effectively pushed ordinary voters towards the populist right by continually ignoring their concerns. The elites in these countries treat the plebs with utter contempt. They think they know what's best and must save us from ourselves.

And as the EU lurches towards right wing populism the folk over here who just cannae wait to rejoin the EU will be a part of the populist revolution.

Be careful what ye wish for rejoiners.

Hitler Mussolini wins local election
Peruvian voters pick their new mayor, despite his unusual name.

Voters in the Peruvian town of Queropalca have chosen their new mayor: Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores.

The unusually named candidate for the center-left Ahora Nación party won 34% of the vote.

There have been other politicians called Hitler. In 2018, also in Peru, Hitler beat Lenin in another mayoral race for the district of Yúngar, when Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez defeated Lenin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde.

“I’m the good Hitler,” Alba told broadcasters on the campaign trail, local media reported.

In Namibia, Adolf Hitler Uunona last year won his fifth local election in a row. “As a child I saw it as a totally normal name,” he told the BBC.

The Dashboard Predates The Car

The word “dashboard” was already being used for horse-drawn vehicles before cars became commonplace.

Traveling by horse was a messy business, particularly when roads were made from dirt, mud, and gravel. A horse's hooves could kick up all sorts of debris as it moved along. Mud, water, stones, and even manure could end up flying toward the people sitting behind the horse.

Carriage builders came up with a simple solution: a broad panel positioned at the front of the carriage. Its job was to stop or deflect whatever the horse's hooves sent backward toward the occupants.

That panel became known as the dashboard because it “dashed” road debris away. The “board” part was simply a reference to the board or panel itself. So the original dashboard wasn't an instrument panel at all. It was essentially a mud shield.

Cars Borrowed More Than Just The Name

When automobiles arrived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, manufacturers didn't start from scratch. Early cars borrowed plenty of ideas—and terminology—from horse-drawn transportation. That included the concept of a protective panel at the front of the passenger compartment.

As automobiles became faster and more sophisticated, the panel took on additional jobs. It became a convenient location for the instruments a driver needed to monitor the vehicle.

Nice info.

(A pedant writes...) But I would say 'dash' is not so much a verb here meaning 'to push out of the way' but rather 'dash', a noun meaning a spluttering or sprinkling of whatever of the stuff you mention was being chucked back at the carriage/driver, no?

Stuff I would never write if I wisnae retired 😀

Ancient Scots had bad gnashers as well....

Archaeologists in Scotland have identified the earliest known case of restorative dentistry ever found in the country. The find comes from a middle-aged man buried in medieval Aberdeen with a gold dental bridge attached to his lower front teeth.

That's a barry website if you like the auld history around the world.

They found some of Billy's jokes as well.
A cat walks into a public grain store and asks the caretaker for 15 talents of corn and sits at the wall waiting. 'You can talk?', says the caretaker in amazement.....

I’ve been looking at this. I’ve looked at has great reviews…5 year warranty etc. “full throttle ceramics” looks and sounds s good deal. Different options. Comes in at £520. Checked up on it and the package and the “ceramic” they use is rated well.
