Today I learned

As I've said, the wooden horse couldn't be in the iliad because the book finishes before the fall of troy so Homer would have no knowledge of it at the time. Achilles was in the iliad, he was the main character.

I know he was, i didn't say he wasn't.
I said the death of Achilles is not in the Iliad.

Achilles was still alive at the end of the iliad so his death couldn't be in it.

That's because the Iliad recounts events that end weeks before the fall of Troy; Homer wouldn't have known about it at the time of writing. Achilles, on the other hand, is the main character in the story, so he is definitely mentioned.
Dae Marge Bart Lisa or Maggie get a mention?

That neither the death of Achilles nor the Trojan horse are mentioned in the Iliad.
Well, that started a whole Greek tragedy…….
just sayin GIF

Just listening to the commentary on the Japan v Brazil game that the largest concentration of Japanese folk outside of Japan is in Brazil. 🤔

If the entire history of earth was condensed into 24 hrs, dinosaurs would show up at 10:45pm, be extinct by 11:30pm, and humans show up 4 seconds before midnight

What about Merricks and Huns Billy ?………………….00.01 before midnight which shows they didn’t have time to evolve, but mutated from puddles

Scampi is Monk Fish tail.
Monkfish can be used as a substitute in scampi dishes due to its similar texture and flavor profile. However, it is important to note that monkfish and scampi are distinct entities. Monkfish was once used as a cheaper alternative to traditional scampi but is now recognized for its own culinary value.

You're having a bit of a mare today my friend.

WILT
So you make use of an American English language AI.

Yep I read it years ago. Still trying to figure out what it's got to do with scampi. Mind you my memory is so bad it could be full of scampi/monkfish references 🥴
It's the WILT reference mate, by Haarlem.

Today I learned the great wall of China is 21,000km long. The circumference of the Earth is only 40,000km 😮
Away you with your Johnny foreigner measurements BK.

AND a Scottish mile is longer than a Sassenach mile.

A Scots mile is an obsolete Scottish unit of distance that was longer than the standard English statute mile. It measured approximately 1,984 imperial yards (1.81 kilometers or 1.123 modern miles) and was divided into 8 Scots furlongs or 320 falls. [1, 2]

That figure of 320 falls that is way off the mark.
I've backed a helluva lot more than 320 nags that have ended up on their nose!

At the weekend I went down to Northumberland to visit friends, so yesterday I learned ...

We visited Cresswell Pele Tower which had nothing special in history so much of the display things were a bit tongue in cheek. For example an upside-down beach bucket in the shape of a castle was described as 'what the tower might look like if built today' 😆

Built in the 13th century no-one knows quite why but one theory is a local rich person was kidnapped by some Scots Reivers and held for ransom of £40 (about £25,000 these days). On release he built the tower to hide in should the Reivers come calling again 🤣

There's a walled garden, which gardeners would be interested in, and those that tend the tower and gardens sell honey made by 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 that live on the grounds. We bought a wee jar of expensive honey 🍯 which I popped into my rucksack.

Another thing I learned today was if you buy a jar of expensive honey and the lid comes off when it's in your rucksack it, unsurprisingly, makes the most incredible sticky mess of everything that's in it, charging plugs and cables, clothing, everything including the rucksack itself :52:
