Steve Wright

Has passed away at age 69.
One of the voices from my teen years. Very sad news.

He was a brilliant broadcaster and his afternoon show with the "posse" was on every day in our office.

Was he not the first to do the "zoo" format on the radio?

Such sad news. Mr Angry and the gay caveliros were essential radio listening back in the 80's. RIP fella

I can still sing sing bits of that song, think it was the gay caballeros.

Never liked his Love Songs stuff, I switched to Jason Manford on Absolute on a Sunday morning, but the guy was a radio genius.

RIP

You're right, it was caballeros. Doubt the song would be allowed these days. Was one of them not called "Alfonso the ponceo"?

I must admit I didn’t listen in for about 10 years or so.But I will always have fond memories of the likes of Mr Angry. So RIP Steve Wright in the afternoon.

I’m sure I heard Steve Wright say during an interview once that his style of using ‘characters’ like Mr Angry was heavily influenced by the American DJ Adrian Cronaur who in turn was played to great effect by Robin Williams in the film Good Morning Vietnam

Loved Steve Wright in the afternoon back in the day, then a few years ago when WFH Serious Jockin' (no g) was the start of the weekend for me.

This one hit harder than I thought it would. Rest in Peace DJ silly boi 😢
