I think when you are so nakedly transparent in your ambition you really need to have it all in place before you strike. He didn't and, for me, that shows very poor judgement. He's revealed himself for no benefit whatsoever. In fact he's pissed off a lot of people who he needs on his side

He said he wanted to stand for election to the Scottish Parliament in 2026 but also remain as an MP. Needs this to stand as leader. Small matter that the SNP rules were changed to stop this, to block Joanna Cherry. Also the seat he wanted is held by the SNP. The woman who is the current MSP said she felt pressured by Flynn to stand down. Another SNP MSP called him a prick!

Done the same thing he took the piss out of Douglas Ross for.
 
Always thought he came across as an arsehole and didn't like the apparent palace coup elements of how he supplanted oor Ian. Not surprised by this - the comparison to Dross is apt imo

Do the SNP really need someone as 'astute' as him in Holyrood?
As for good performer, having watched most PMQ's and FMQ's the majority of contributions from MP's and MSP's are predictable scripted performances in my opinion.

Correct terminology Larry. Hand picked interventions weasel like back ups to affirm the initiator. Sometimes adding a wee homily about their constituency whilst doing so, to make sure it's on the front page of their local rag too.

Imho one of the worst mistakes parliament has made is allowing tv cameras in. It’s reduced everything to this performative nonense and ensured that all the real action takes place outside the chamber. So it’s not a ‘gain for the democratic process’ either.

Everything was in any case always on the public record via Hansard, but without politicians playing to the camera and looking for snappy formulas that lend themselves to TikTok but are also hard to edit to misrepresent them. The twitterfication of debate.
 
I dinnae like him and when he replaced Ian Blackford, it helped me decide to leave the SNP. He is playing the game, he wants to lead the SNP, forgetting he is a unlike-able arsehole and is helping destroy any forlorn chance we had of independence.
