Full Time: St Johnstone 1 v 3 Hibernian

If someone doesn't say in the post match interviews that we loving winning against Levein teams... I'm gonna be raging... 🤣🇳🇬

4th top goalscorer this season 😳 been injured most of it.
3rd top scorer last season

Only Kevin Nisbet and Youan have been involved in more goals over the last 2 seasons. Goals and assists.

Out of those 3, 1 has left and the other 2 are unwanted by a shocking percentage of our support.
Man bun would provide a greater contribution to the team in assists and potentially goals as well. He'd also drive us forward and influence the team in other ways. Campbell is part of the problem at Hibs over the last few seasons. Yes he's scored some good goals but does very little the rest of the time when he's on the pitch. We may as well play with 10 men when he's on.

Mixed feelings, good to see a win but that will probably be us stuck with Monty now for next season.

I thought he was very good today

The decision about Montgomery's future won't be made on the strength of these last 5 meaningless matches, no matter what the club are saying officially. A decision will already have been made IMO. If he is to be the Hibs manager next season however, he will get my total backing, and I hope from all Hibs fans.

Marcondes obviously would be a better option.

Disagree on Campbell 10 men though, what position was he playing at that point?
Right back, defensive mid, center mid, attacking mid, right mid, up front?
Not a bad CV for someone with barely 2 seasons of football under his belt.

Hes no some established player, he's still got room in front of him.
Had much more impact than most players who have came through our books in recent to longer term.

I'd keep him on the books.

Bring back Tony Rougier.

Missed the game on the tele, but a good result. Glad Vente got us a goal, I think in the right system he could be a real asset.
As a proper centre forward, operating in the opponents box he should be competing for league top scorer. What the hell has gone wrong with him since his first few games?

Delighted for Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson. Heroes.

Result is meaningless as the pressure is off

Monty out
How is it meaningless is he has a 3 year contract and he not a year into !!
It is not meaningless what a stupid comment .no doubt you prefer is we lost today and you could get on with the monty GTF
What you gonna do when he here next year and we go on. A good run - buy a ticket in the aW way end
Get behind your club / your team
Who you we are Real Madrid

I agree, I think the decision has already been made.

Played well with the pressure off us, now if we could do that all season then that would be something. Good win but playing the worst teams in the league now who we should be beating anyway throughout the whole season.

The biggest problem I have with Manbun is that he shites out of 50/50s. Josh wouldn't.

I don't understand why the Saint's scorer wasn't booked for the way he manhandled the Hibs player who was taking the ball from the back of the net.

It's his passing that's pretty poor (although he played a great ball through to Boyle today). I think we could do better for the money he'd cost.

I agree. It seems that if he can be bothered he's on fire and if he can't, well, we saw today how poor his passing was for the most part.

🙈
Seriously? How can you say that when he has scored more goals than any other midfielder for years and more than most strikers we’ve had.
That’s just stupid

I reckon I am in a minority of 1 in wanting NM to stay. I understand why most folk will think I’m daft, but I’m fed up with the manager merry go round. Yes, I get his stubbornness with 4,4,2 and his worrying subs. However, if VAR had not robbed us of so many points we would have been at least 5th. Would as many folk want him to go? We also had so many injuries. I also don’t know whe would replace him. Why would McInness want to come? I would have liked Robinson, but it wasn’t to be. This opinion is not based on today’s result (yes, I go to all our matches, home and away, except Ibrox). I suspect Foley will be ruthless, as he was with Gary O’Neil, but I hope not. Whatever / whoever, I’ll be supporting Hibs. Managers, owners and players are temporary, supporters are ( usually) the one constant.

Manbun is a bottle merchant as was witnessed today when he shied out of a couple of 50/50 tackles - something Josh would never dream of doing. I didn't see much evidence of him driving us forward today. In fact, the goal was the only thing positive he did all game.

Only caught the last half hour on Zitelli. To me we seemed in easy street. So frustrating when we couldn’t do it before the split. But I’m pleased with the win because I hate Levein.

The goals are irrelavent if for the majority of other games he does bugger all for the team. You're seriously telling me Josh Campbell before injury was a consistent stand out performer for Hibs? No one seems to know what his best position is. "Oh he's a utility player" but what actual qualities does he actually bring to the team overall? Perhaps we should play him up front as I don't see a midfielder.

MB hadn't played first team games in months after returning from serious injury and he's been chucked in at the deep end with a different style of football in a different country. It takes players time to adapt. He's in the team to create chances and get us goals, not to be sliding into 50/50 tackles. That's what MW is here for. His form has been a bit flakey but he has the ability. He needs a pre season as I've said already and he'd be much improved player. Would contribute more to the cause than JC.

There's an argument there.
I think technically Marcondes is and will be a very good player at our level.
Pretty expensive for our level too, if we were taking him in a permanent I think we could probably have 2 or 3 players at this level for that outlay.

I like Campbell, I can't get my head around the need to want rid of the only players that produce for us.
If they can produce in a shite team with some hopeless team mates, managers, whatever else.... then they've earned the right to play with better.

If he is in a 50/50 situation and he bottles it he's no good to the team. He might make the odd decent pass and score the odd goal but bottling a tackle just puts us under unnecessary pressure. He's got what it takes, no doubt about that but he doesn't seem bothered enough to try half the time. Besides, he won't be at Hibs next season because he's not worth the 18k a week [circa] that he's on.

We cannot ignore the points we have been cheated out of mags. I was on the NM out train like the vast majority of fans but I'm of the opinion now that we need continuity and we should give him another window at least.

Bla bla bla :coffee1:

His hair should be nowhere near Hibs.

Mine isn’t.

That point about being cheated out of points whether by the in pitch officials or VAR is worth a bit of analysis actually.

We were in the end of a good few dubious decisions over the season but I’m of a view that most other teams suffered from similar ‘mistakes’.

It would be quite an eye opener if all these were put into context of who benefited, who didn’t, what matches these happened during etc.

The ‘penalty for rangers’ has become a bit of a joke throughout the last few seasons but have these game changing decisions also favoured against certain clubs in certain matches?

There might be some statto out there keeping tabs on this but they’d likely just be focussing on their own club (like the paranoid Celtc ones) rather than across the whole premier league.

It’s all a bit of a moot point but it’s incredible that some absolute stonewall infringements are happening in many games involving certain clubs and nothing is looked at and on other occasions, involving certain clubs, completely innocuous incidents are leading to VAR reviews where referees are being second guessed by a bawhair decision triggered by someone watching a tv screen in microscopic detail.

Thoughts? Or am I just over thinking this?

I’m sure Motherwell had 2 or 3 dodgy ones in a row which cost them wining games or at least drawing, had they went they’re way they may even have made top 6
