Rumour.

Apparently Chaiwas agent has said £3m will get him:

“His agent “believes” 🤣🤣🤣 utter nonsense what a way to try unsettle a player.. kinda sure agents cannot do that anyway
if that was true it would be illegal no?
Do we know how many packets of digestives they offered in January?
Just a small time mentality tin pot so called big club.
As European matches show, they are just a goldfish in a tadpole bowl.

Any truth to that
Then ban this *&*^ from Easter Road

However, speaking directly to CeltsAreHere, Youcef indicated that he believes £3m could be enough to get a deal done.

He said: “£3 million, he can go to Celtic.”

I've got the armor firmly on . Chaiwa for me is a better player than Engels and they want 20 mill plus for him! I'm not saying Chaiwa is worth anything near that , (neither is Engels by the way) but we should make sure we get some serious coin for him.

I'd take 4 million with Luke mccowan thrown in as part of the deal though .

I'd not want McCowan. He's more of a Wright/McGrath type and every time I've seen McCowan for Celtic he's been easily the worst player on the park.

His time has come and gone.

McCowan has been bang average since he moved to the Smellies, and if memory serves me correctly, he bumped a move to us for a shot at the 'big time'. If so, he can fuck right off.

I think him and his agent used us like fuck.

There's not a chance we made 4,5,6 offers (much much larger than the initial too) without them giving us an indication that he would sign.

Theres zero chance they never knew Celtic were waiting for them to finally accept a figure.
They used us to get the lowest acceptable offer in the open, and then waltzed in and done their thing.

Had Celtic went in for him publicly from the start, he'd have sold for £2/3M
But because it was us, he sold for £1M

So he stitched everyone up. And helped Celtic keep the price down.

I agree Hammi. He had no intention of coming to Hibs, so if they did offer him as a makeweight and I was negotiating, I'd say okay, we'll take him, but we want £6 million in cash rather than the £2 or £3 million you've offered.

I suppose if you were offered 10-15 times your dough , you'd have some serious decisions to make.

I personally think Mccowan is a good player. Hes not had a proper run in their team and they were a basket case before O'Neil stepped in.

I'd noise Celtic up.
(If there's truth to the £3m figure his agent thinks)

I'd shop him to Europe for £3m and reject anything less than £5m from then. Rivals pay a premium.
If they want to offer us Luke, then they can, we value him at £500k and you have to take him back on loan for a year, £500k up front, plus bonuses if you win the league and cups.

Of course you would. But you don't need to string Hibs along while you do it. (I don't think he's getting anywhere near 10 or 15x what he would have at Hibs either l)

If Celtic wanted him and he'd agreed to go, they could've bid themselves.

They didn't come in last minute, they knew what was up from the get go.

As @Hammi said, he and his agent used Hibs to engineer a move to Celtic, so I'll repeat - he can fuck right off.

Apparently we’re interested in St Pats midfielder Kian Leavy (24).

Name rings a bell, he been mentioned before?
Currently Newell, Chaiwa, Mulligan and Abdulai for those 2 spots?
I don't see McGrath, Wright, Campbell or Molotnikov as options there.

I think that might mean we're planning for someone going?

Could Joe be heading for the exit? Or maybe it's in case Mulligan goes. Alternatively maybe they are planning for more Thursday / Sunday schedules. He sounds like he'd be a useful addition though
"Leavy can play across the attacking midfield line, centrally, or on the wings and is known for his excellent dribbling ability and fitness levels.[31] In April 2025, Leavy's manager at St Patrick's Athletic and former Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny speaking about Leavy stated "He's remarkable. I said to the players, I learn from him every day. He's a very versatile player, he can play on both wings, in central areas, he's invaluable to us. His work ethic is very high and he's got a high skill level. His levels of professionalism are really up levels, and he's the fittest player we have, he wins all the tests."[32] Kenny drew comparisons in Leavy's dribbling style with Diego Maradona in September 2025, saying "As I said to him in pre-season when he was having a spell like that, dribbling by everyone, it was sort of Maradona-esque, you know? That left footed low centre of gravity, always dribbling on your left foot and going both ways. It's very unusual, you know, and it's very exciting. He's got that trajectory with his dribbling, and then his speed and his unpredictability. He finds a space where it doesn't exist when he's dribbling."

Nae pressure comparing him to the ultimate football player. Sounds a good player.

So he's more likely competition for McGrath, Wright, Campbell, Boyle... .

Interesting.

I'm pretty much 100% certain Newell doesn't leave until his contract is up.
Even then he might retire.

SDG cant get a tune out of Chaiwa, Mulligan, McGrath, Wright in midfield. A decent manager would have those guys running the show in every match. SDG could add Bellingham to the squad and doubt if he'd know what to do with him. This guy would be better finding a manager who knows what he's doing rather than coming to a club where eye bleeding football is the order of the day. It pains me to say this cos I love SDG. He's a hero and always will be. I live in hope he'll overcome his lack of managetial ability and it'll click eventually because his job is safe due to the lack of ambition above him, happy to settle for 5th place if we can creep into Europe via the back foor.

Yet hes still winning. If he gets them all playing well we will be some team then. I think some overestimate the quality of our squad. Milligan looks a good player but is obviously feeling his way back after his injury. It might be a few weeks for him to get back to the level he was at. Chaiwa been doing ok but passing not his forte imho. He still needs to work on that. Wright barely in the door so will take time to gel in the team. Putting my coaches hat on it seems sdg thinking is keep it solid then rely on boyle or someone getting to the byline and the likes of elding to get on the end of it. Its a mirror image how he played. Think of cummings goal v hearts when we moved the ball quickly and sdg cut it back for cumdog to score.
The flaw in his thinking is the lack of pace in the team. Not sure why we havent signed a speedy winger but i think it would massively improve us. One it gives the midfield a target that the can put the ball through for and also pushing the opposition further up the pitch. Part of the reason we are struggling in midfield is teams dont fear us on the break and press higher making it harder to make meaningful passes. On the flip side it also makes it easier to defend hence why we are grinding out results. We got the result at ibrox because of the condensed midfield and in macedonia so sdgs thinking is not daft. We have lost that springing from defence which hibs fans love so until we get some pace in the side its going to take some individual brilliance to bring the fans to their feet. Be careful what you wish for as we saw with mixu not unlike sdg and after he was binned we know what happened.
