For me Megwa is one of the best of our 'fringe' players. You know the ones that are never first on the team sheet and don't get a chance to really shine. I'd give him an uninterrupted run in the team as a starter.

Room for Chris to be used ahead of a fullback/wingback imo.

Still think he puts in good crosses, just never got anyone there to deal with them.
Lowe looks like he could get to them.

Over Passlack?

Should certainly compete with him. Can he put a cross in? What about ahead a bit where you suggest Cadden could go? 🤷

I'd play the best 11 as and where possible.
Passlack ahead of either of them and in midfield I'd only look at Chris to cover or be a different idea.

Megwa better defensively than going forward imo, still doesn't look too confident, so he'd be the fullback before the wide midfielder for me.

I don't actually think we'll ever set up with someone ahead of the fullback, I reckon they stay wingbacks anyway.

Cadden can leave if he wants to leave, but Aberdeen can bolt.
We allow crosses, Chris can cross.

Send him to forest green or something if anywhere.

Kanayo Megwa is a good defender, Chris Cadden isn't.
Chris Cadden is a good attacking wing-back, Kanayo Megwa isn't.

We need players who can offer different strengths to compensate others.
Highly unlikely we will ever get a player in that position who can do everything really well.
Felix Passlack is our first choice without a doubt.

I wouldn’t, especially not to a direct rival.

He’s second choice behind Passlack but is still a good player and we need depth, particularly to go further in the cups and if we do make it to the European group stages.

If we have too many in that position, Megwa is the one I’d let go.

I get what yer saying but a wage we could use if Gray thinks we can improve elsewhere.

I've always argued with myself with this one. Aye ive seen decent crosses going in but then I'm like stick yer heed up and look for a player. Do you know how many assists he has since being with us?

Hope we keep Cadden and give him a new contract, I bet he doesn't ask for much and I love having the two twins. I also think he's a good footballer, not glamorous since he doesn't score much and doesn't take people on but he's great for getting the ball up the pitch and transitioning from defending to attacking positions. Very useful player and I get the feeling he's a great person to have in the team for his personality too.

Chris Cadden has been good for us, but I wouldn't be too upset if he went to Aberdeen.

If he's not good enough to be first pick for us then we shouldn't be worried about going up against a team with him in it.

Passlack as a swashbuckling first pick and Megwa coming on when we need to go a bit more meat and potatoes sounds fine to me.

Id imagine Cadden is on a decent wage too.

I've had this argument with myself too and I've come to the conclusion it's the players in the middle who have to do more (generally)

The way we play, quick, direct counter down the lines with a ball across. The forwards and midfield HAVE to support that. If he hits an area with the ball, we have to be there to attack it. His job is to beat the defenders, not necessarily pinpoint his man.

Obviously, if there's not a single body in the box, we shouldn't be sending that ball. But alot of the time I think the ball he sends is cracking.
He was poor before vanishing last season though, so I'm not sure if he's sorta over that hill now.

I don't have an assist tally, my website shows 4, but I'm pretty certain it's more than that.

Chris Cadden is a better player than Megwa but TBH neither is good enough for a top 4 side if that's where we expect to be.

Cadden a good squad player though.

What is good enough for a top 4 side?
Form beats talent and anyone can be a top 4 player.

The majority of that Motherwell side I wouldn't consider signing. But they were easily 4th best team across the campaign.
Hearts I wouldn't have picked them as a top 2 side prior to the season starting.

Quite easy to go from bit part player to mainstay and solid.
Iredale, Rocky and O'Hora weren't good enough until they were too as examples. They finished third together, in what was easily the best side in the league at that time.

I've seen loads of great crosses into the box. I'm of the thought though that it's upto other players to be on the end of them. It's not as if the crosses aren't expected!

Along the same lines is all too often we're just not committing enough players forward. It's as if the players are coached into already preparing for the next defence phase.

Liam Kelly was in the Scotland squad for his personality, look where that got us. We want winners rather than someone whose good at cracking jokes in the dressing room.

It's obvious the club (whether that's David Gray or Malky Mackay) don't rate Chris Cadden as good enough. When selected he was invariably substituted and has been dropped several times. The club were pro actively looking to recruit an alternative option and did so in January.

I’d say it’s a great example of evolving the squad by Malky and co, rather than not rating Cadden.

Chris Cadden has been very good for Hibernian but his injury / loss of form combination last season, along with him approaching the end of his contract next summer, opened the door for either the promotion of Megwa or recruitment of a new player… ultimately it’s Megwa who is not really rated, rather than Cadden, as the club chose to sign a new first choice player.

Passlack is a real upgrade on both, so Cadden drops to second choice. Whether we want to carry Cadden’s wage for one more year is up for debate, as is the question on if he’s happy being second choice - wouldn’t be such an issue if we get Europe, which is why I suspect we’ll hold off on deciding between keeping him or Megwa until we know how that goes.

Paulsen, Bournemouth keeper we were linked with last year, has joined Motherwell, and is saying he nearly joined us last year, but he thinks a miscommunication led to us going for Sallinger instead.

He ended up playing for someone in Poland and they got relegated, so maybe didn't miss out on much.
Be interesting to see how he does this season and if we made the right choice.

Wonder if there were other players from Bournemouth we passed up.

He was at Lechia Gdansk, they started last season on -5 points. The league was also really close. I wouldnt base my opinion of them soleley on relegation this time.

I was at Arka Gdynia vs Lechia Gdansk, The Tri-city Derby, He didnt look anything special from what I remember. But I was fed a lot of Polish moonshine inside that stadium so I do not remember much.
