Rumour.

Heard at the weekend was a goer and Scott Allan mentioned tonight too.

Players at the old firm get linked away by the press for crazy amounts. The Croatian linked with Barca and Chelseas for £30m is off to Monza for £7m.

SW is a real possibility at least until the summer. McCarthy too.
If Scott Allan is coming back GrumpyJoe will be ecstatic!

Thanks for the reply.
Giving it a bit of thought and you are right.
The numbers in the press are probably random, there is nothing attributed to Celtic and as ever misinformation ffils the void.
Udinese are low bowlers so would have have been looking to bring Welsh in cheaply to develop and sell on.
Looking at the facts, Welsh will be 23 in a week, a Scotland U21 player who has made only 28 appearances for Celtic so not exactly ripping it up.
A move to Hibs on loan or permanently with a big sell on percentage would make sense. He needs to play first team football and do well before making his big move and Hibs are a good level to do that.
I hope it happens.

McCarthy is 32 and 18 months into a 4 year contract. He appears miles out of the picture at Celtic.
Has been out with a hamstring injury since early November which is the last of the many injuries he has had in recent years.
For that reason i think he is one for Hibs to avoid.

Welsh, McCarthy and Ideguchi were not in the match day squad of 20 against Kilmarnock at the weekend
Would suggest Celtic are looking to move them all on.

We do like a injury prone player though 😉

Not keeping up to date with things but is there any truth behind the Scott Allan rumour?
Was he not reported to have to told someone he wasn't getting games because Ian Gordon didn't like him?
If Ian Gordon is moving (hopefully out the club) it would all make sense.
Nae idea, could all be bollocks but it's a rumour I like 👍🏻

Why would a manager not play someone because a suit in the recruitment dept doesn't fancy them?

Sounds like pish to me.

Hibs fans will do anything to avoid admitting Scott just doesn't have it anymore.
Not his fault, but it is what it is.

But why not just blame Iain cause we don't like him.

No idea as I said. I was only asking questions based on stuff I remember reading.
OK enough about SA but I will say I've not understood the relationship between the Gordons and Lee Johnson since he joined the club. I think only now he's starting to grow a pair and speaking out about our footballing problems. Rememember the suit is/was in a pretty strong and very influential position.

Scott didn't get games for Hibs because for whatever reason he was no longer good enough.
When he did get on it was very evident there was something missing.
This season he is struggling to make his mark in the Championship.
hopefully he can get some traction soon at Arbroath but he is never playing for a top 6 SPL club again.

Not a position where he's picking the squad

LJ isn't the only one who didn't play Scott.

I remember Smurf mentioning SA's explanation for leaving being Ian Gordon not liking him, but that's either a misunderstanding or SA deluding himself.

Scott was out the door a week after LJ came in in the close season, and presumably it was Ian who told him there was no extension forthcoming. But the writing had been on the wall for two seasons at that point; he never came back onto a game for more than about 5 minutes at a time after his not-retirement.

Maloney was encouraged not to play Scotty.

It wasn't him leaving.

It was that all season he barely got any mins on the park.

He was leaving long before LJ came in.

Don't think so. Nothing in the media about SA lately. Arbroath haven't been playing well so doesn't really make alot of sense that we'd want him back.

The Hun Docherty who did well with us a couple of years ago is out of contract soon. Not sure if Hull want to retain him.

Hull have a years option that they will take up.
26 year Championship level player well out of Hibs reach.

even if he was out of favour he'd have plenty options at other championship clubs, the market we'll be looking at will be lower leagues or loans from down south

Still think we should take a punt on Sam Cosgrove. And the defender we had on loan last year was very impressive. Forget his name.

Yes! He was levels above what we have at the back. Class act.
He was, pity he was another player that could have made a difference but like almost any player we have had that could have made a difference, ended up missing loads with injuries.

Not a rumour but recall we were linked with Conor McGrandles who appears to be out of favour at Charlton… still on the recruitment teams pad?

His name was mentioned before, not sure if he and LJ have worked together before.
