Word on social media is that he has signed until the end of the season and we have an option of a year extension.

From Hibs Observer yesterday:

Hibernian have signed Rabbi Matondo on a deal until the end of the season after the winger impressed during a trial period.
The former Rangers and Schalke forward was a free agent after leaving Norwegian side Brann.
New Easter Road boss Marink Reedijk ran the rule over the Welsh internationalist during the pause in domestic football with the current Hibs squad lacking natural wide men.
Matondo scored twice and laid on two more as Hibs comfortably won two bounce games with Reedijk at the helm; one against Kilmarnock.
Now the 26-year-old has agreed a deal until the end of the 2026/27 campaign to bolster the Dutchman’s attacking options, with Hibs having an option to extend the deal for a further season.
Reedijk said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Rabbi to Hibernian FC.
“He made an immediate impression during our time in La Manga and has shown a great attitude, strong application, and a real willingness to learn and adapt.
“Rabbi gives us pace, directness and a real threat in wide areas, while also bringing a positive personality into the dressing room.
“He has settled in quickly, and we are looking forward to working with him and seeing the impact he can make.”
Sporting director Malky Mackay added: “Rabbi is an experienced player with real quality, and adding someone of his profile is an important boost for us at this stage of the season.
“Over the last few weeks, we have had the chance to see him up close and he has shown the attributes that can make a difference for us.
“He has connected well with the players, settled into the environment, and shown a clear desire to be here and contribute. We wish him every success during his time at the club.”

Matondo played 70 times for Rangers, appearing under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Michael Beale, Philippe Clement, and Danny Rohl, and contributed to 19 goals. He also spent time on loan at Hannover 96 in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga.

A product of the Cardiff City and Manchester City academies, his senior breakthrough came with Schalke, although he spent time on loan at Stoke City and Cercle Brugge in Belgium.

He has been called 15 times for Wales and appeared for both England and Wales at youth international level.

The move is subject to Scottish FA and international clearance.

Hopefully takes a leaf out of Martin Boyle's book and endears himself and becomes, like Boyle, a legend.
Got a playing pedigree and has come from a strong coaching and training background…………….,,,,,let’s hope he converts that into performances, looking forward to what he can bring,, only 26 !.

There is indeed, it’s stated on the Hibs website. Seems a sensible move.

Really looking forward to having a proper winger on the park again, him on one side and Cadden on the other is an appealing prospect.

How does a Welshman need international clearance to play in Scotland?

Not sure why he qualifies for Wales, he was actually born in Leek, England.

If the guy can stay fit...will be a good signing.

At least we signed till end of season.

He only got 3 games for my local club Brann before his contract was terminated. Too little game time but I don’t know the reasons tbh.
He’s 25 now so Hibs could be his last chance, let’s hope he stays injury free and makes the breakthrough with us.
