Oli Shaw

I feel like he needed to go elsewhere and develop himself and his game.
If he had stuck here he wouldn't have got the chances and time to get himself up to standard.

Plenty people didn't think Cummings was a Premiership striker after proving himself in the championship, it is a different level.

Oli will be better for playing down there.

Only Neil Lennon gave him a start - PHB & JR and for that matter Stubbs didn’t.

I thought there was a very decent player there, but he didn’t get the opportunities he deserved.

i think in part it was lennons preference for two up, and the subsequent mangers inflexible preference for one up.

Ok thought he was lightweight and think he has found his level which is great for the laddie.
I think that’s a possible explanation too, but I don’t understand why we hold onto laddies until they are 21,22,23 and even 24! before releasing them - let them go and make a career elsewhere if they aren’t going to get a chance.

Did you miss his fantastic finish in the 2-1 win at the Polo Club in Estepona :o)

I always struggle with the idea that a player "did not get a chance"

Is the argument not that good or great players take their chance.

Kenny Miller, Scott Brown and others you knew straight away they would make it - Never in question

Spot on. Players need to earn their chance, not wait on one.

Steven Fletcher used to get cameo appearances at the end of games much in the same way Oli Shaw and Jamie Gullan have. Fletcher done enough in those few moments and in training to earn the trust of the coaching staff to gradually get more game time, and eventually start matches. No doubt he took his chance.

I’d love to know what kind of work Hibs do with young players on their mentality towards the game, do we actually cultivate that desire to be the best or do we just home they have that in them. I suspect it’s the latter.

Steven is scoring regularly for stoke , got a good scoring record wherever he goes . Need to get him back in the scotland squad . Definitely better than whats there

He’s retired from the Scotland squad I think. No doubt he could still do a job but we really need to be bringing through more forwards. Dykes isn’t great but is finding the net at the minute, needs better quality around him.

Yip , he fell out with a manager who had him bench warming all the time , I think , cant remember who ? And said not to include him in future . He’s still a quality striker IMO
