Aberdeen legend, Neale Cooper, has been found seriously injured in an Aberdeen street and has subsequently passed away, aged 54.

What a tragedy. Those who remember when Aberdeen were in their pomp will recall his contribution to a Scottish provincial club taking over Europe and the SPL.

Sad, sad loss.

Sad news indeed....Neale Cooper was a big part of one of the best club sides Scotland has ever produced. A hard, physical player who played with a real will to win as did the rest of his team. He was a ball-winning midfield enforcer, but he contributed much more than that to a legendary team. Taken way too early at 54.

RIP Neale.

Ohh dear, initial reports was he had fallen down some stairs. Sorry to hear that, he was a proper hard bugger on the pitch.

Spoke to him a few times when he was manager at Peterhead.

A more ordinary , down to earth guy would be hard to find.

Not a bad player either.

Sad day.

Youngest member of the Gothenburg team? A cracking player who struggled with injuries. Sad news.

Neale Cooper in Fergie Rises: “He (Franz Beckenbauer) said I was possibly the closest he had seen to a player like himself at that age. That was quite a compliment. But I always say that it goes to show, even Franz Beckenbauer can talk some amount of shite.”

Interview: Neale Cooper on playing for Aberdeen and Rangers - The Scotsman

Hibee Aidan Smith's interview with Cooper. Brought back so many memories. Interesting how he felt a bit culpable in the Simpson-Durrant incident.

Have to also say, GJP came across very well when talking about him. Apart from him picking Lewis for Scotland that's the closest he's got to making me feel anything positive towards him since 2001.

I also hadn't realised that Cooper had suffered a heart attack last year.

Speaking to boys up in our Aberdeen site and by all accounts had a bad drink problem regularly seen pissed or sleeping in bars.
Was by all accounts blootered the night he fell. Still sad though as meant to have been a cracking fella
