Just seen on twitter that mulumbu - personal terms agreed and medica is happening this afternoon.

Was gonna say, fans start talking about him yesterday and deal done today.. Naah.

He's a good player, could definitely get a team in England.

We spoke to him or his reps about a month ago and it didn't go too far.
We might go back to the table I guess. But I think he's looking for English football.

He seems a good player but is he that good given he doesn’t appear to have been signed by anyone yet?

England will rule itself in or out by 5pm tonight. We'll soon know how realistic our chances are if we are interested.

He's a good player.

He’s a free agent so can be signed out with any transfer window.

I hope we’re in for him.

He simply has to fit the bill for Neil Lennon. I think NL realises that Hibs style of play may have to change now that SJM has left the building. Trying to replace SJM like for like aint gonna happen. But, i dont think Neil will be short of midfield options come the end of the transfer window.
Though I don't think Scott Allan will be one of them. But maybe it's time to look beyond the end of our noses with S.A..

At least until Jan when we can get a pre contract agreed and offer them a poxy fee like they've done to us and others countless times. If reports are right with them matching the fee, SJM could have opted for them but chose Villa so I think they only have themselves to blame.

I doubt the smellies would pay anything like Villa wage wise.

20k a week apparently.

Celtic matching it might have scored him a chunk extra per week.
I don't think Celtic were ever in with a shout.

I don’t think John seem Celtic as a progression of his football, getting pumped in the cl group does not a chalange make. Where villa will get promoted and then it is pl football in one season

the jump is less from villa to top PL team than from celtic.

celtic only sell to southhampton and even when they have decent players like dembele EPL clubs wont take a risk on the them.

Agreed. In fact he even said in his post-signing interview that he was glad he wouldn't be facing the same few teams 4x a season again with Villa. And that it's a meaty challenge to get AV back up to the EPL.

For a developing pro like SJM, that must be a great package so good luck to the lad.

He is quoted as saying that he is settled in Scotland mate, he is free and available and would add quality to us.

It's a no brainier of a signing and NL admires him too.

I know he's free and available.
But we tried speaking to him and it didn't go far.

Either we pulled out for whatever reason or he did.
Doesn't mean we can't or won't go back, but we did go to them earlier.

Good but imo will want wages that are not worth paying. He is a year older admitidly Juventus just payed over 100m for someone of the same age but let’s get someone that we can get on a long term deal not someone on the decline, wits for example

He also mentioned that he was flattered by our interest.

That is true however he can't be registered by an English team after 5pm today.

Not quite true.

English premiership clubs shut their doors this evening. Loans and frees are off the table.

However championship and below can still sign free agents and loan players up til the end of the month.

Premier League clubs can’t, but a Championship/League One club has until the end of August to register a free agent. So there’s a chance someone from down there could still come in for him.

Anyone can sign a free agent at any time - Premiership included.

Really? Any free agents (who were free agents when the window shut) have always been able to sign outwith the transfer window.

The transfer window is just for registered players.

The English FA and their teams all agreed to sort out their squads before the season officially kicked off. Hence today's window slamming shut. Premiership clubs are now set until January.
Anyone below can still sign and register free agents up until the international transfer window shuts.

Historically, squad registration closed a few weeks after the window to help out players who were released at the end of the window.

But all that's to be done much earlier now.

Interesting.

I managed to find. this - "In years gone by, clubs were able to sign free agents at any point, but clubs under orders to submit their 25-man squads, this is no longer permitted." -Mirror

Previously you could sign free agents at any time (and every other league bar the EPL and Football League is still able to do so)

He replied to a fan on twitter.

Questioned, whether if he'd burst into the box etc. Just knew him as the big guy in the middle.

Replied with I do, or I will.
Or something along those lines.

Might be movement on this again?

I think he was just having a laugh with fans on Twitter. I'm not sure there is that much to it. The original poster was quite taken a back that he responded I think.

If he did sign I'm assuming a 2 year deal?
