With 3 years on his contract down south we're realistically looking at a loan. We won't pay the 700-800K Reading will look to recoup. Would be a master stroke if Hibs can get him back. Would love to see him return on a 3-4 year deal. He is a classy striker. 8 goals and 5 assists is an incredible return, imagine what he could do if he started the season and had a partner with Scotty Allan weaving through balls to him.

Problem is Reading don't want to loan him out, they are looking to get some of the million they paid for him, that would rule us out if true.

Its bound to be less than they wanted in January and from what I heard we made a fair offer, I think we can come to an agreement. Reading will also be due him money, he could agree to less to move things along.

Just depends if we want him, I think he'll do good work, he wants to play here and we've seen how he works. He just needs a partner to get the best.
Runs for through balls too, Scott allan will find him all day and night.

I'm quite hopeful too.
Sparky has made it clear he wants to be at Hibs, and with a bit of compromise on everyone's part I can see a deal being put together. The main problem is in the timing - if it's a dither then Hecky will move for other targets.

I think their number one priority is to get a number of players off the wage bill. They will want to recoup some of the fee, but given its known they can’t really sign anyone until they move players out it puts the buying club in a stronger position.

I hope NL doesn't show an interest especially with McNulty's family being all Celtic fans.

His family being fans doesnt have any bearing on Neil making moves.
I doubt they'll look at him either, they'll need to appear to be making more of an effort to win their fans back.
Almost every one of them I know isn't into Neil signing on. Buying players who had questionable form (on paper) wont rally them.

Expect to see them looking for another one or two multi million players.

Wasn't it NL that brought him to us?

From what I've heard he's said he's keen to come back to Scotland.

When he's said anything he's chosen his words carefully [and while he's maybe said something to suggest Hibs when I was travelling] I've never heard anything Hibs specific.

Hibs tried to bring him right at the end of his tenure, and we finished the deal once Neil was gone.
Sounds like a Hibs signing to me.

Just remember NL trying to get him here, hopefully with the SJM promotion money he will be our player soon.

If I am honest the guy is good tae no bad. How much do you think ,if he was not on loan next season, Hibs should pay to get him?
BIG G

Im in this boat too.

Any more than £200k and Id be questioning the value. If we sign him he'll have my full support and I hope he becomes a 20 goal striker... I just don't see it panning out that way though.

I think his movement & link up play is excellent, he’d thrive on the type of service Scott Allan can provide. Same goes for Kamberi.

Coventry sniffing according to Glasgow rag.

Wouldn’t be surprised after him leaving right after promotion but they aren’t exactly stable etc. Potentially having to ground share at Birmingham next season

That's who Reading signed him from. Be surprised if he went back there again notwithstanding the wages. I get the impression McNulty and his Mrs want to move back to Scotland.

Highly rated in Coventry judging by tweets but are they in a better position than Hibs, probably not. Funny old game though. If we could get him and omeonga back along with scotty allan return and out long term injuries, buzzing for season. For once I'm no to worried about this window even after all players that have left.

Got chatting to a guy in a pub on Sat. A Hibs fan who is pals with McNultys' grandad. (Who is a Hibee too apparently.) Told me that him and his wife are desperate to stay in Edinburgh. He loves it at Hibs but was unsure if it will happen. Seemingly on around 7/8k a week at Reading. Seemed a genuine enough bloke but he was a taxi driver and they do tend to spraff sheeite [emoji55]

I think it's pretty clear to see from the tweets McNulty has posted and comments in the press that he loved being at Hibs. Even if he's a Celtic fan. Not sure what the top wage is at Hibs but maybe we could offer a decent bonus based on achievements. I think McNulty realises he needs to be playing esp as he wants to be involved with Scotland. A 3 year deal would be a great bit of business. My feeling is we will get either McNulty or Omeonga. Can't see them both returning but would love to be wrong.

I’m really not that fussed if he signs or not. Last season I was more bothered about us signing Flo, with McNulty, not so much. Don’t think he’s a bad player, just a lot of dosh to invest for someone I’m not that convinced by.

EEN reporting today that Reading want £1 Million for McNulty or at least a significant part of what they paid Coventry for him. I do not believe for one minute that this situation has only just became apparent in the last day or so. He is not worth anything like that amount and no team in Scotland outside of the Old Firm could pay that. Unless Reading reduce their asking price to about £250,000 tops then our only chance of getting him back is another loan deal for a year. IMO we need at least two new strikers in anyway, one who can give us some qualities in the box we didn't have last season.

That’s been the case since January, they want to recoup as much of the million they paid a year ago as possible. The reality of that figure will be nowhere near £1m, and he knows his next contract will not be as much as he’s on now. Reading aren’t in a strong financial position, no need to get players with no future off the books, McNulty is one of them.

I think we’ll probably have three main strikers next season, with a fourth from the Academy as a back up, mainly because PHB seems to favour a 433.

The supply from central midfield last season was terrible and a big reason why we didn’t score enough goals. We basically had to create chances from crosses and set pieces, which is predictable and didn’t suit Flo or McNulty. Allan and Newell will offer much more of a threat from midfield this season, which helps the wingers and strikers massively.

Flo, McNulty and one other would give us some strong options. Shaw for me needs to go and play in the Championship for the sake of his career, so Gullan might get more first team exposure as the fourth striker.

Pretty much.

I'd guess a loan deal would mean we'd be paying a large chunk (all?) of his considerable wages too if Reading are wanting to sell him rather than keep him.
Not great news if we want to get him here.

My laddie spoke to him yesterday. McNulty has told Reading he wants to sign for Hibs and to make it happen. The stumbling block is the buy v loan hurdle. Could be a few weeks of phoney war stuff till someone moves their position.

He's been kicked out of the team chat group by Boyler, who's taken over from Marv as the group admin. McNulty has complained online about it but Boyler told him "he knew what he needed to do to get back in"...
