Living in Leith.....

It might be a bit of 'cold turkey' being starved of no Hibees this weekend, but I thought I'd write a few words about living in Leith and how many surprises and quirks there are. It's the only place I know where in the same row of shops there is an arty farty place selling artisan breids and a pub where they start drinking at 8am with wee gadgie guys outside smoking.

Earlier today from the bus along Duke Street I saw a funeral cortege. In the hearse there was a coffin with a Glasgow Rangers crest, yes, painted on it. RIP an all that but in Leith???

There is a wee karaoke bar which is a bit of a hoot. We went one night - the singers were good. 'Alec' tried out dancing, with his new hip and Doris and Maigret were sitting in the corner eating chips(from the chip shop!). Then later 'Elvis' entered the building and did a rendition of 'Can't Help Falling in Love With you'. Classic.

Oh and add this to the list - yesterday in a pet shop on Leith Walk I came across a parrot that meows like a cat.

Its earlier than that if your talking about the Marksman :detective:

Think the said arty farty place with artisan bread is where my missus works :-)

Easter Road end of Duke St

Twelve triangles by any chance?I went in there to buy a loaf of bread, they are selling stuff that looks like it's been burnt to a cinder.I opted for the sour dough loaf.'That'll be £4.80,' the woman said.I almost said 'it's a loaf of bread I was buying no the fucking shop' but I didnae,I paid the money and left.I'll no be back.

Don't visit Switzerland then 8 Euros a pint would be cheap.

Some of the bread is meant to be black..

It’s not for everyone but there is option to buy bread for 50p in the same street so prob good to have the variety

Is it bad of me to think, well that is another one of them doon?

I think Leith is tremendous, by far the most diverse, interesting and exciting part of Edinburgh. So many cultures, choices and attitudes. Nothing comes close. I like that I can buy mentally priced bread for more than I can buy a pint at 8am. I’m porty, probably always will be, but if I move, it’ll be to Leith.

Was in today, sourdough and other bread is 3.50 although they have one at 4.50.

Three day process making that kind of bread hence the prices
