Little things that annoy you.

Are you a retired Scotrail worker? Thick as fuck and believe everything your union tells you. Including how to vote.
Calling us auld codgers when you’re closer to retirement age yourself than being a whizz kid? Your sentiments are more akin to a naive 20 year old. You need a reality check :coffee1:

Just because I’m thick doesn’t mean I’m a retired Scotrail worker, although I know there’s at least one Bouncer who is.

Not saying he’s thick of course, he’s a big lad.
Not sure of his voting choices either.

It’s a strange logic you used there to guess my old job. Even if you were wide of the mark.

I’m assuming you work for Scotrail?

Aye Doc was the reverse Mussolini where the trains didnae run on time.

I only have an issue with elderly people, or anybody, who has the means to pay their way, demanding this, or that. We seem to be stuck in a cycle of, i paid my dues, so i deserve.
The Welfare State is their to help people who can't pay their way, yes it's being abused, but it's not there for people who can pay a bus fare or their heating bill, without it impacting their quality of life.
Unless I missed it you never came back to Jimmy's point.

Taking the exact logic above, do you then agree that those who chose not to have sprogs should get no or reduced state pension?

They have swerved contributing to an extent that leaves them hugely better off than those who do, and have left gaping holes in welfare capability far in excess of the average tax dodger.

To apply your brass tacks reasoning, they have not ponied up their share to populate the workforce that will pay for state pensions for their generation. To paraphrase you, they haven't paid their dues yet are still demanding what those dues would have paid for.

Has one of your cryptic references to trains, tunnels and your enthusiasm for their interaction - whether as Casey Jones or platform spotter - perhaps got lost in translation?

No, never have, but i know a few Scotrail workers.

I did get back to EH17 Jimmy. A couple of day's ago. Maybe you were having a nap. :giggley:

Sorry, checking back i see i missed the topic avoiding Hitler nonsense. By your own logic you are asserting a connection between paying in and getting out, and also relating individual means to what people get out.

Why then is it less Hitlerian to ask more of pensioners than it is to expect tax and benefits to recognise those who have personally financially benefited (enormously) from non contribution to a system they free ride on?

Those childless people don't put a burden on the Government to provide a school place or treatment from the NHS.

I bet when i reach 60, the free bus pass will be abolished. Those who have one now will be likely to keep them.

You are kidding right ?

So they dont use any state services, draw pensions, make inefficient use of housing stock and infrastructure, and in fact make additional demands on the state to provide care that children would otherwise contribute to?

That must be why societies and welfare states aren't collapsing everywhere such choices proliferate.

It does seem odd that for someone so happy to point the finger, youre a bit tetchy here, especially as you have sprogs and have done your bit - even if they have emigrated,

So they dinnae contribute tae your pension, so you wont be taking yours, I'd imagine.
I'm contributing to your pension now. So in the interest of fairness i'll move to Australia, when i reach 67. The DWP in Canberra will tell me to bolt.

Aye, but i always get bumped into buying an extra round. Probably works out even though.

Think your "mates" might expect more than a pint after they see how you described them on here.

They know that. They've said worse to me, and i've said worse to them. Still all pals though.
