Little things that annoy you.

Having to form a queue in a pub, a good barman knows who's next
Oh FFS does this still happen? Wetherspoons have some of the longest bars in the country and folk still stood single file.
I spoke to the manager of The King's Highway in Inverness who hated it. He even put notices on the pillars along the bar telling customers there was no need to single file queue.

It is prevalent in many Scots dialects of English. And many other 'wrong' past participles along with it. Strong verbs from Germanic roots. Doric also rich in them! (He's drove home, I've saw him, she's gave him a quid etc....)
I failed O level english twice so I’m now beginning to see where I went wrong . Can you re - sit it when your 76 🤔😩🤣 and whoar wid a go tae dae it 🤷‍♂️

Pet peeve of mine too. Seems to be prevalent among football pundits and Weedgies. Mixing up perfect and imperfect tense. My former boss used to do it all the time. I done. No, you did, or you have done.
A favourite of Glenn Hoddle.
'Thems the breaks'.
He forgets to add 'moosh'.

Russians. At least the ones using Thailand as a bolt hole. Hold a door open for them, stand aside to let them past, don't expect a thank you or even a nod of appreciation, they just walk right on by without even catching your eye. Bunch of *&*^.

I scraped through my English O level nearly 50 years ago. I run the exams now, as a SQA official, in my old school by sheer coincidence and, looking at some of the exam papers each day, I would fail every one nowadays.

I had no intention of sitting any exams so left after third year aged 14. Started full time work on my 15th birthday. School and I just didn't get on so best thing all round.

I fckn hated school, closest thing to being in prison that I ever want to experience. Endless tedium and largely pointless as I saw it - and tbh while my view has matured, I’m honestly not convinced I used anything I ever learned beyond the ‘three Rs’. I’m not a philistine though, it’s absolutely essential but it just wasn’t for me. The irony is I’ve spent my life learning new stuff, so it wasn’t that. I think I’m just not suited to institutionalisation so to speak.

Took me to my mid 20s I think, to stop having dreams in which I was forced to go back.

Word for word how I felt 👍

Left school with 7 “O” Grades and 3 highers. Only subjects I excelled in were languages. Then spent my entire working life using the subjects I couldn’t understand at school and have forgotten most of the languages I learned. Learning on the job did it for me as I was by then able to retain what was useful and delete what was not.

Washing tablets for the dishes and clothes. Except which is fkcn which. I’d expect it to be emblazoned on the packet but not on the ones my missus buys. And to further confound me, I associate fairy liquid with dishwashing….but the tablets can be for clothes.

Loads of waffle on the packet about cleaning effectiveness and detergents etc etc but on what? on fucking what you goombahs?

Domestos. It apparently kills 99% of all known germs.

It's been like that for years. So which 1% is still there? And what does it do?

And folk who supplied their own paint bought from b&q.

It was only £15 for a tub of Dulux they say.

Aye it's that price because it's crap. It's DIY Dulux no REAL Dulux.

And water based gloss and eggshell. Fuckin crap shitey stuff.

It should say laundry on the box if it's for clothes.
Its inevitably on there somewhere Conner but usually a small icon or words buried in walls of text. Why isn't it more prominent is what I'm really griping about!

Just checked and you're right. It says everything else apart from "laundry." I don't have a dishwasher but i hear what you're saying.
Oh, my names not conner, that's just a username i was given at my old work many years ago. :giggley:

Made this mistake not two days ago. Annoying as fuck

My former boss used to do it all the time. I done. No, you did, or you have done.

This takes me back to my childhood trauma. My mum would go radge if I used done incorrectly. "I done the dishes" would set her off and I would have to quickly correct it. My dad used to work beside a school pal of mine and he was nicknamed "Me What Done" because of his constant misuse of done. :22:

I can think of several places I've worked that were far more tedious and prison like than school ever was and I really hated just about everything at school.
