Little things that annoy you.

You come across as an angry little man, criticising elderly people, government , people in receipt of winter fuel allowance, people in receipt of bus passes, tradesman, people who take cash in hand , people who had the foresight & initiative to have planned for the future, retirees who have the audacity to go for a pint using their travel pass…the list is endless; rantings of a failure imo. No issue retaining info, please show me where you told me you had no degree. I will respond which whatever words i choose to use. Fucking knob
5 foot 11, so not little, certainly not angry, in fact your response is of a bitter person. Read my previous posts on what qualifaction i have. You can choose any words you like. Keep them for another user, not me.

No bother big man. You do realise people with degrees also can get vocational qualifications? Loser.

I thought that's what a caring society was all about, looking after the young and the old. I don't particularly like paying tax but if it helps the likes of my mum and dad to be able to eat and keep warm then it's ok
Empathy not allowed anymore don't you know. I saved a fortune with my free buses going to the punk all dayer in Glasgow yesterday. I still work and pay my taxes and work harder than the vast majority of those half my age. The money gets spent somewhere else anyway which helps the economy moving. All those who don't want the free bus pass at 60 don't have to take it up if your that principled. As for not wanting pensioners to be warm in their dotage. Words fail me. We will all be that person one day if we live long enough.

When I was working it bothered me not one bit if pensioners eventually got something back for their contributions they made over the years.

Mainly because I eventually tippled that they had struggled to provide when I was wee.

Eegie makes a good point when he says every adult needs two bairns to contribute in taxes so they get their pensions.

If that is the case then the childless should not get a state pension.

Just their private one.
Not so sure on the last point but the cost of bringing up a child is well over 100 grand so if you have had two kids, one of who has already got his own house, then surely then if you've paid taxes all your life you shouldn't be made to feel guilty regards free bus passes and prescriptions. Everyone entitled to their opinion as always but be careful what you wish for. You never know what's round the corner in life.

BTW the days of cracking final salary pensions are long gone so those not wanting free bus passes for the over 60s should remember it will be much harder now to build up a decent pension than say 30 years ago. Just saying.

I'll tell you what would be good though. If the state pension was so good that pensioners didn't NEED a free bus pass.
Pension in UK only 11th best in Europe way down on France and Germany. The capacity to earn in the UK so much harder than 10 years ago with pensions slashed,no rates for otime, bank Holidays etc plus a poor pension at the end. Would be great to have a pension that meant no free bus passes.

Silly question but i'll give you an answer. They're financially dependant on their parents, until they start work. Any pension is calculated on contribution's.
Its not a silly question. Before benefits its cost 200k per head ro raise a child ro adulthood on average. Each child will on average to on to contribute 600k to the exchequer.

Those who choose not to have kids have a massive financial advantage while free riding on those did have kids. Because among other things those kids pay their pension.

In the UK, millionaires can still claim child allowance/benefit. They don't get paid cash though, they are given NI credits towards their State Pension.

Every child benefit claimant gets automatic NI credits, not only millionaires, and a household earning over £50k will have to pay income tax on some of the child benefit.

Geezo it's up to 200k now. Really. That surely can't be right. How the feck did I bring up 2 kids. I suppose you just make do. Frightening figure if correct. Im not against anybody who doesn't have kids as if that's not their thing then I'd rather they don't bring a child into the world whose not loved and cared for. It's both a choice to have kids and to not have kids surely.

Depends where you look it is anywhere between 150 & 300k

Conner, unless I've missed it, can I ask why you're so against the elderly getting some assistance? You seem a rational type, I'm curious your thoughts on it? Surely you have elderly family or know people who do? And unless you're all extremely well off and move in circles way beyond the average bouncers circles on here, some of them may benefit from it, no?

Again, not trying to antagonise or pick holes, I'm just honestly curious.

Wished the fuck I was. I'd be living in a 4 bedroom in Gracemount Heights.
I'm accused of being a middle class tory barsteward. From a council house in oxgangs. I don't think so. I'd class myself as extremely low middle class if there's such a thing but a tory I will never be.

I only have an issue with elderly people, or anybody, who has the means to pay their way, demanding this, or that. We seem to be stuck in a cycle of, i paid my dues, so i deserve.
The Welfare State is their to help people who can't pay their way, yes it's being abused, but it's not there for people who can pay a bus fare or their heating bill, without it impacting their quality of life.

What would you do to resolve the issue?

You admit the Welfare State is being abused.Well not by all of us here who have worked up to retirement age and beyond. Some by choice and some through necessity.
I have worked hard and sacrificed a lot for everything I have and I’ll take everything I’m due .If I want to spend it or give it to charity it will be my choice. I’m not going to feel guilty while there are wasters out there who have never worked and rely on people like me to pay their ‘wages’.
I might also add that ‘our’ kids will probably inherit something when we snuff it which is more than I and most of my mates ever did. (Fucking lucky if we got a canteen of cutlery or a Wally Dug.)

Not so. Starts to taper down at 60k and gone completely by 80k for highest earner in household.

So someone on 80k with a couple of kids has about the same disposable income as someone without any on 30ish.

We are talking here of someone well off, though few realise that in practice and as shown those without kids are 'well off' from a much closer to average salary. Parents with more average salaries, and despite benefits, are much worse off.

And their efforts are funding state pensions and and the continuance of welfare generally.

Its a massive factor and nowhere near sufficiently recognised by the tax system.

Jimmys question was entirely relevant.

Why do you think you're due, when you don't need?

My main annoyance is that I can’t get over things that annoy me for irritation is, surely, the indication of a weak mind.

As Confucius said, and I’m ad-libbing somewhat, “In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the centre of the target he seeks first for the failure within himself”.
I appreciate this post will annoy certain people.

I used to be like you and would find it so difficult to let annoying things go but in the last 18 months have managed to chill much better and only worry about the things that matter. Never thought it would be like this but it's so much better not being wound up by trump or the culture wars nonsense like I used to be.
