Lewis Miller

Hope not. 🥲
Me too K but it seems likely that he will go back down south and on loan to a Championship team, I'd like us to sign him but it's long odds on that happening.

Can’t see them loaning out to another championship team. They will either take him back and go into their squad or sell him

Heard he is not happy about the years extension to his contract, and wants to leave Hibs.
I like Lewis, but we can't have players who don't want to play for the club.
Why the hell did he agree to a contract which gave Hibs the option of invoking a years extension when he wasn't keen to stay on ?
Hope Boyle's situation is different.

Agreed SDG needs everyone working and pulling together to the step into Europe and beyond.

Depends why he's upset.

If he's upset that we've extended his contract. Move him on.
If he wants a new deal and the extension is holding his wage, then he's got an argument to sit and ask for a new deal. Which won't just be handed to him in the first weeks of the season.

If he just doesn't want to be here, then he's welcome to leave.

Nobody who doesn't want to be here should be here, at all, in any circumstance. We've made massive efforts to get rid of the weak characters in the squad. Miller being a stronger character can't be allowed to be miserable.

He’s already a far better player than when he arrived and IMHO can only get better. If he ain’t happy developing and progressing at Hibs then it’s time to move on.

The thought crossed my mind, same with Boyle, that they weren't the happiest when there has been no comment from either of them about it.

I wonder if Hibs offered him contract before the clause was enforced?

He said no. Perhaps with an eye on a big signing on fee.

Hibs protect their investment by extending.

Hibs sell him with a year or 6 months on his contract.

We all move on.

Possible with Lewis. Didn't really get game time at the end either, although he did get injured so...?

I think Boyle knew the extension would happen, he spoke about it a little bit in the lead up to it. Just said it's out his hands and it's up to Hibs. Made it sound like he's good to carry on. Least how I took it?

I don't buy it that he hates it I think he's happy here just based off interviews and squad videos etc. Seems basically a simple straightforward guy and seems to get on well with everyone, the squad all seem to really like each other at the moment. @Jack could well be right about some signing on bonus but surely he gets that we want a transfer fee!

Seems odd when he was recently posting to Instagram celebrating a successful season. Sounds like BS to me.

I'd be surprised if any first team regulars are desperate to get away from ER, with the feel-good factor at the club just now. Maybe his heads been turned by agent noise about how much more he could get elsewhere - same with Rocky actually - but I'm happy to see how this goes

He agreed to that clause when he joined the club, probably didn’t think much of it at the time. Boyle’s will be the exact same.

It’s pretty common practise now for clubs to hold an optional one year extension in player contracts.

I know it's not a Boyler thread but he's been mentioned. Looks delighted he's staying!

"What a mad season the Cinch has produced🤣 Thank you for all the support this season through the good times and the bad, it’s been a rollercoaster😮‍💨 The opportunity to lead the boys out near the back end of the season is something I’ll never take for granted, some crack🤷🏻‍♂️ big shout out to @rachboyle23 and the Hibs women for winning the league and having our little girls be apart of it all, memories that will last a life time for them! ❤️ Here’s to next season and reaching 100! Up the Hibs.

Surely to activate the extension...they will be paying him the same as when he signed?

Maybe that's why he is unhappy, and feels he should be on more now.

Though in fairness...he did agree to the contract extension option before he even signed.

He's entitled to ask for a new deal.
But if he's daft enough to think Hibs are going to sit and negotiate while he's out of contract then he needs a better agent.

Can we wait for @Sproule Three and his thoughts?
He will be fully focussed on the two final WC qualifiers.
He was meant to be home in Sydney just now till the Aus coach arranged the training camp in UAE .
Hear he’s very happy in Edinburgh .
Was carrying an injury for all post split games .
Maybe Hibs need to sell marketable players though to balance books- sure he knows that.
Hoping I can meet him whilst he s back in June
His family live 2 streets from me.
Might no ask him too many direct questions tbh .

Cheers! Great to hear!

Met Lewis this morning in a local cafe in Mona Vale - Northern Beaches of Sydney.
Cool midwinter morning here at 12C so must have felt like Edinburgh to him
He’s a big laddie - much taller than I expected .
Must have a few big boys in team as he never seems to stand out height wise
Very humble guy and great company .
Despite him being a regular in national team squad for past two years and the Socceroos just having qualified for WC he was enjoying not being recognised .
Hardly anyone knows him in local area . Sums up football in Aus really .
He doesn’t get that level of anonymity in Edinburgh.
Didn’t push him too hard on the answers we all want . He says he’d like to stay as he will need regular game time to play in WC.
Obviously club might be open to offers though if one came in - no much he can do about it but it’s not his preferred option to go elsewhere even for more money.
Clearly would like finish his career in Middle East for financial security- few years yet though .

He hadn’t heard the Porto return rumour ( not that I would expect him to tell me) Shared a flat with him in his first 6 months so knows him well .
Was glowing in his praise of Jordan Obita and how he has learned so much about defending as a full back from him.

Not much time at home for Lewis .
No real down time for European based Aussie players
Back from Saudi yesterday morning then off to Netherlands for pre season in less than 2 weeks.
Plenty frequent flyer points though .
Telt him he shouldn’t leave as the Aus Hibees have just sponsored his shirt for next season .
Anyway enjoyed the chat with him.
Hope he stays a few more years and bring success .
Great having this connection at other side of world

Think that’s where he learned the throwing himself to the ground from Porto , he used to do exact same , still young boy , given the chance he will flourish here
Maybe but he did say that Porto was intensely passionate about the club and left him in no doubt what it meant to play for Hibs - constantly .
Lewis got it -from day 1👍
Was surprised that other players supported other clubs and he still struggles with concept that not every player in the club is not now a Hibs supporter .
He is - locked in to Aus Hibees for life . Think the 6 months as Porto’s flatmate had the desired impact.

What did he have for his breakfast?
I said that @1875 recommends smashed Avocado on toast when he returns to southern hemisphere .
Lewis said ‘fuck that - I’m no a cardigan wearing Tory’. 😉

He had a coffee- nae food. - thankfully as I said I would buy him something .
Obviously he declined and paid for mine

Had played in 39C in Saudi two days before though and lost a few Kgs
You’d think he’d been keen to replenish the calories eh.

There’s professional sports people and there’s us

Never liked that Miller laddie.

After having his option clause enforced by the club I was a bit sceptical about commitment to the club. Seems I was wrong although there's no mention of an extension. Maybe he's too busy phoning Triantis 😆

I like him. I hope he hangs around for a few years yet.

He’s still very raw, he’s got plenty of learning to do but I love his athleticism and his enthusiasm.

I also love his combative side, if he can add a wee bit of defensive nouse to his game he could be a right good player!

His dad went over to Edinburgh this week
Hopefully he’s there using Lewis surplus of frequent flyer points to enjoy the festival and the Edinburgh summer rather than advising/ supporting possible moves .
As I posted he clearly said it’s in his best interest to be playing regularly to make WC squad . He’s more chance of that at Hibs barring injury than he has with uncertainty of a new club
