Legal help

If you are getting a will done, also worth considering power of attorney - which i forgot and have now needed to do separately. This is so if anything happens to you Mrs 1875 can get access to your bank accounts etc, and vice versa.

We set it up so we had PoA for each other and then the kids as backups in case we both went down in a plane or whatever.

Doing the deeds, will and power of attorney all at once ideally.

Thanks guys, it is a great feeling/ Tomorrow is a big day as I get my salary and no mortgage to come off.

As EGB know, I have a long term plan to escape the rat race, sorting the solicitor out is point 8 of my 12 point plan.
Nice one mate. And see when you do stop working the pressure just lifts overnight.

You should try the Guardianship process. Needs to be in place for turning 16 but you cannot begin until 15 and a half.
Edinburgh city council currently taking just shy of 2 fvcking years to carry out assessments so we'll be lucky to have it by his 18th.
I have seen it - but for an incapacitated adult.

Will give them a call, I popped notes to Watersons and Warners too. Need a will done too.
I'm in the same situation, paid off the mortgage a few months ago & haven't got round to sorting out a discharge document. Can you post which solicitor you go with? Thanks.

It's the unforseen event that causes the problem.
A guy I work with had to go through it all when his mum became unwell. She was 55 at the time and hadn't thought it would be required until she was old.

Absolutely. The legal process is in place to protect the person concerned. But it's a minefield to negotiate.

You can do it on your own BUT far quicker and less hassle having a lawyer do it tbh

First of all, congratulations on hittng the milestone of getting rid of the millstone! I hope you feel suitably liberated.

In answer to our question, I cannae mind how much it was a don't know if it was a good rate, but I used Mcdougall mcqueen and it was a hassle free job.
That’s who I used, in Dalkeith and that was about 4 years ago, if I remember right it was around £200.

That's plural. You only need one. :giggley:
Indeed.
I was referencing your earlier post.
Unless you were being trendy about pronouns.

All the conveyancing solicitors I know were happy to be 'he/him' rather than 'they/them'.
