Labour

Stand by and watch them both lie , then counter lie. Watch them duck and dive, and tell us everything but the truth.
And just remind yourself, that we had a chance to leave this fuckin shit show and chose not too. 55% of Scotland just love getting shafted. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
Just don’t complain about it . It’s not exactly a surprise that the manifesto suddenly now means sfa.
With the shenanigans that's been going on in the Scottish Parliament with the SNP did you blush posting that?

Mmnnn. I will take your word for that one.
It then poses the question, why would one then brag about having the best growth ?
It’s all just wind and pish and smoke and mirrors.
Belarus, Serbia, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, a bunch of others, have higher growth rate than any of the Western European countries except Monaco. And with the exception of Spain, almost all of the rest of Eastern Europe does to.

Meanwhile on the UK

Wave goodbye tae the winter fuel payment. Bastards.
Good. Poor pensioners on means tested benefits or pension credit will STILL get a winter fuel payment.

The country is broke. Borrowing £1 for every £4 spent but you want retired millionaires to continue getting a winter fuel payment?

It is right to continue to support the poorest in society. And yes right to withdraw it from those that don't need it.

Funny eh how nobody posts that today Labour unlike the gone Tory Government has accepted in full the pay recommendations for teachers and NHS workers in England.

Tough choices required. Anyone suggesting otherwise is deluded.

Bastards taking our winter fuel money and giving it to feckin teachers in England.

They get nearly as many days off as we pensioners.
:grrr:

It’ll probably consist of 3 pen pushers in an office above a shop, not the 69,000 jobs Starmer mentioned.
It's time the media grew some and started questioning the GB Energy bullshit. It's not an energy company, it won't generate electricity or sell it and it certainly won't create thousands of jobs. It's an investment vehicle and nothing more yet the news broadcasters are wetting themselves over Starmer's lies..

This?

You really hate the Scottish government don't you Archie!

"In their 2021 manifesto, the SNP said that work on the public energy company had been "halted" during the pandemic, and efforts were being "refocused" on a public energy agency"

Apart from the pandemic we have had continual austerity and it's not going to get better under the red tories.

Good. Poor pensioners on means tested benefits or pension credit will STILL get a winter fuel payment.
Age UK chief Caroline Abrahams says more than 800,000 older people on low incomes - less than £218.25 a week for single pensioners and under £332.95 for couples - will now lose out.

And there are about a million pensioners who are £50 above the poverty line who will now no longer be able to claim the payment.

Cvnts.

while at the same time saying the tories plans were half of an unfunded black hole?

Not at all. I just wanted to clarify which energy company was being referred to. Obviously you are of the view something promised in 2017 isn't an issue while something committed to by a government in power for four weeks and not yet delivered is an outrage.

Even the SNP Scottish Government is recognising the UK has no money and tough choices are ahead. Going to rightly be a lot of unpopular decisions ahead but let's see when the bigger picture emerges....Screenshot_20240729_213408_Facebook.jpg

You haven't a clue what I think then. GB Energy isn't an energy company and it was never intended to be one. It's an investment vehicle, nothing more. Labour is lying about the jobs it will create and the energy it will supply because it won't do either. I wish Scotgov had managed to set up an energy company [a real one] but unless you want to simply wave off the pandemic and austerity as being mere inconveniences rather than fundamental changes in the way the Scottish Government had to operate you would likely have to concede that these are reasons rather than excuses or lies.

I blush with embarrassment everyday knowing that I live in the only country in the world which has rejected to govern itself.

How many times does it need pointing out that if Scotland had voted for independence, the SNP would have been finished as a party. They exist for one reason only.

Well instead of piling in, shouldn't we wait to see what the legislation and scope of what GB Energy will do . Then surely it's legitimate to have the discussion in an informed way?

Fair enough, I'll look forward to you coming on here and bemoaning the GB Energy sham in the near future. In the meantime, here's Starmer drivelling on as his lies unravel by his own utterances

We’ve already been told it’s going to deliver 100% clean energy by 2030. Which is quite obviously not true.

I get it. However, had we voted for Independence in 2014 with the collapse in the price of oil, then a pandemic and the cost of living crisis there's no chance our public services would have continued as they were. I'd vote for Independence but this belief all would be more than OK and we could avoid these really tough choices if only we'd voted for Independence is just delusional nonsense. Sorry.

It has to be said this is correct. We’d be fcked.

Well I'll comment on the facts as they become available. But one thing I want to mention. Criticism of the Scottish Government isn't hate. I think they have done lots of good things. But I can't believe that the defend at all costs or attack everything approach is healthy for the body politic.

Hunt fires back at Reeves:

“ Jeremy Hunt has accused Labour of providing “deeply troubling” incorrect information on the state of the economy after Rachel Reeves said the Conservatives left a £22 billion black hole in the economy.

The shadow chancellor wrote to Simon Case, the cabinet secretary, saying the Chancellor’s claim appeared to contradict public spending estimates presented to Parliament by Ms Reeves and other Treasury ministers on July 17 which did not include the “supposed multi billion pound black hole”.

Mr Hunt said that either those estimates, signed off by civil service permanent secretaries, or Ms Reeves’ statement today were incorrect.

“It is deeply troubling that the Chancellor has today chosen to make claims about the public finances to the House of Commons which directly contradict the documents and legislation the new Government put before Parliament, signed off by senior civil servant accounting officers,” he said.

The shadow chancellor added: “There is a clear issue here: either the spending plans in estimates signed off by senior civil servants and presented to Parliament are incorrect, or the document the Chancellor has produced to the House today is incorrect.

“In addition to this, the Chancellor said she was presented with the state of the public finances immediately on arrival at the Treasury, yet still, weeks later, the Government published estimates that she considers wrong.”

Mr Hunt asked Mr Case to explain the difference between the figures, to confirm that the July 17 estimates were signed off by senior civil servants, and to say whether civil servants would be “sanctioned” for the apparently incorrect estimates.”

I'm not entirely sure what's happened but I have convinced myself that in years to come we will find out British agents had infiltrated the SNP in Holyrood and Westminster to such a spectacular extent for their lack of pro independence campaigning and self destruction or alternatively they looked at the actual realities of their original motivations and realised it really was staring into some abyss. Regardless they had huge mandates and somehow succeeded in missing every penalty kick opportunity.

There's definitely politics at play. The Liam Byrne letter defined the New Labour inheritance left... Labour are trying to do something likewise.

I don't defend them at all costs. Not sure where you're getting that from. I'm stating facts that a pandemic and reduced funding due to austerity could feasibly be responsible for an energy company not being set up although you appear to dismiss these factors as an irrelevance.

P.S I see you didn't bother commenting on the video I posted.

Bear in mind that as a "normal" functioning independent government Scotgov in whatever guise could have borrowed money.

I'm not sure about that. it's obviously possible but what I believe is more probable is that British agents were involved in altering the independence narrative using the media and social networks to ram home how shite Scotland is and how poor we would all be if we chose Indy.

I don’t think any James Bond narratives are required. Brexit, the Salmond debacle, then Covid, then go woke go broke, are sufficient explanation on their own. On top of that, whatever his other failings, Salmond was a political heavyweight. It’s all been a bit tinpot since then. And then there are world events. The EU is a shitshow, Russia etc.

None of this may deter voters from the heart, but the appeal to voters from the head is in smithereeens.

You're right - I didn't.

I haven't said the reasons you stated were irrelevant. And you did quote the impartial SNP manifesto as a source. And if you are content that these are the only reasons it didn't happen then who am I to disagree with you?

As for the defend at all costs, I'm just going by your posts.

I must be deluded, I get my state pension and a tiny private one( about £65 a month). I get no pension credits or any other credits.
I was 15 on the 1st July and joined the royal navy 9 August.
I worked and paid taxes till I was 71 and they are now taking away my £200 winter allowance , something that obviously slipped their minds before the election.
And some folk wonder why people moan about c#nts that drift through life no' working and contributing fuck all tae society.
Still as long as they can keep spurting out sprogs and claiming all their allowances all is well with the world.
It makes you wonder why you bothered.

What boils my piss is when they get to state pension age they get a rise every year.
I've worked since the day I turned 15, paid nearly 50 years NI contributions, don't claim any benefits, pay private health insurance in Thailand so will never use the NHS, but because I live in the wrong country my pension is frozen.
Wonder how the country would cope if 500,000 of us came back to claim benefits and NHS treatment.

That interview makes it clear that Starmer has no clue about the oil industry. No new licences to be granted but maintain supply from existing fields while we transition. Does he think the existing wells are bottomless pits? Reservoirs are depleting by the day and many will soon be regarded as not economically viable. Meanwhile increase the windfall tax to ensure that their viability is reduced even more quickly, supply falls and jobs are lost. It’s a car crash waiting to happen and the oil companies will think nothing of pulling out of the UK as they already have far bigger fish to fry overseas.
