Full Time: Hibs 0 v Motherwell 1

A point less than last seasons finish, sadly we haven't kicked on but any time we have played in Europe our league form has generally suffered.

We are back to square one where major squad reconstruction is required IMO over the summer with an emphasis on quality additions.

I'm still with sticking with SDG for now at least. Give him the summer and see how we do until the first international break next season.
I dont think we have a bad squad.
Id say we've got a pretty decent squad tbh.

Gray just doesnt seem very tactically good.

Only his second season as a manager and fair to say he's still learning. He's shown he can recover from setbacks in the past. The tramps across the city have a manager that's been doing the job for 20 years.

Jack Ross was a bawbag.

This is all true.
But what has he learnt this season? He's changed nothing, he doesn't know what his best 11 is and he takes out players that perform.

I don't think he's learnt anything this year. And I think the idea that finishing top 6 twice in a row being an achievement, and if Celtic win the Scottish cup then we get Europe again, that'll be another success.

It'll validate this system that isn't working. Us and Falkirk are top 6 because the bottom 6 are just that far behind.
Aberdeen have lost enough games to be relegated in other years, but they're well safe. The point totals in the bottom 6 are well short of competitive.

Today we were lucky to get away with the scoreline. I thought Motherwell were so far ahead of us it was unreal. The looked properly coached and set up. They play superb passing football whereas we look to launch it up the park playing percentage football. I think we are a horrendous watch.

What is there to learn, what is he missing? Gray was a professional footballer all his adult life. He has been at Hibs under various managers for years. All he seems to have learned is to do the same shit his predecessors did that got them sacked. He’s sticking with a system that doesn’t work. We occasionally, very occasionally see some decent football for a short period. Then on 60 minutes the subs come on whether we need them or not and it goes to shit.

HFC should be actively looking for a replacement.

SDG has to tinker with personnel and tactics to find the right balance. It's not that simple. All you need to do is look at our record of departed managers. How many have left having not been punted.

SDG is a point shy of last seasons total in a more competitive league. Given the fact we have also just sold our star striker I don't think that's a disaster though he does drastically need to improve.

If we can find a suitable candidate that actually wants to be Hibs manager then I'd be interested to hear more. The list of names linked the past few times we have been looking for managers were seriously underwhelming. Most of which struggled to reach a 40% win ratio which IMO is not good enough. Whilst SDG is marginally above this just now but he has shown he can change things given time in the past when he was on the brink of being sacked.

The loss of players like Youan IMO has been a big loss with injury and attitude issues it seems. The guy was a match winner for Hibs not that long ago. No one to replace that.

I get your point but he has turned ir around before. Had he his strongest line up (Mulligan and head screwed on Youan) and retained Bowie I think we'd have achieved forth with at least a couple of weeks to spare. Falkirk and Motherwell have also suffered result wise over the past few weeks.

If there was an exciting manager with a decent pedigree. By that I mean a pedigree of high league place finishes/cup wins that actually was keen to speak to Hibs I'd interested to hear.

We've no idea who would be interested in speaking to us, I don't believe that we can only attract fresh faced rookies.

I want someone who's already learned their lessons, been a manager, been an assistant manager. Had success, had failures.
They can still be a manager on their way up, but I don't think we can afford to be a place where someone is learning to do the job anymore.

Youan has been in the huff the last 2 years and contributed zero. Absolute imposter that played the race card because wee imbecilic laddies sent him messages. He was a wage thief.

I hope he enjoys himself in the English or French third tier

To be fair to Hibs we have not had too many total chancers in our time. The whole Youan episode has been totally bizarre though. Long spells off the radar, occasional impromptu match-winning performances, huffs contrasted with corner flag waving celebrations as though he loved the fans... only to go missing again. Don't want to to be too harsh in case he was struggling but he had chances to go and start again but never took them. Just shows you how important attitude and mentality is in sport.

Was he out with the players at full time yesterday?

I think Youan has possibly serious mental health issues, that has or hasn't been fully diagnosed,Depression?.
You might be right. I think he's pissed off SDG (as well as alot of the fans) . He should have been of the mindset I'm playing for my next contract which means I need to give my all. Be interesting to see where he ends up. A sad end as one of these rare players like; Latapy or Zemamma who when interested could grab a game by the scruff of the neck and make a real impact.
