We were supposed to be going to London for the weekend but had to alter plans.
We have just jumped in and booked up for two nights at the above.

Anyone been before and got any good info?

Thanks.

Yep for work purposes. It is typical Lake District but particularly popular with the Blue Rinse set. You'll have to dodge the zimmers

Its pretty enough but it us entirely geared up for older folks and walkers. If you class yersel as either of those then yer fine. Are you staying in a B&B or somewhere like the Netherwood, which is a bit bigger and posher?

Been there a couple of times and I actually quite liked it! I'd echo the sentiments above and I guess it all depends on what you're looking for but it's a pretty, peaceful place and accessible to busier areas at the same time.

I was quite taken by the curious view from the promenade (see below) I do find Morecambe Bay generally quite interesting.

There's some nice parks and gardens there and of course it's pretty good for those that like walking or are interested in wildlife etc.

Windermere is only a few miles away if you like that kind of thing.

If you like what the Lakes have to offer you're probably going to enjoy it.

Hi J. We are staying at the Corner Beech Hotel? I have not looked at a thing yet. Just need to get away and it didn't look like it was going to happen so happy enough.

Thanks Stu. We were in Windermere last year and wanted somewhere different. Interesting photo there!

I stayed near there too - it was that photo that reminded me.
Had a deal at some old hotel that I can't remember the name of, but we had the Beatrix Potter Suite and it was a pretty creepy place. Pretty sure it was haunted.
Probably.

I was there about 40 years ago, I suspect not much has changed :-)

Cartmel is nice, the Cartmel Inn is very good and the chicken in a basket is to die for.

The Ravenglass to somewhere else railway is a nice wee trip.

There's not really a great deal here. It was a nice B and B abd a decent place to have a base.
Went to Cartmel which is lovely with a cracking pub in the Old Oak.

Simon Rogan has a one star Michelin restaurant here but at 45 for lunch was a bit too steep for my liking.
Nice new Ferrari parked outside though....:glassraise:
