Hello ladies and gents.
Shamrock Rovers member and Hibs fan from Dublin here.

I have had some great days out with the lads and lassies of the Twenty Sixteen HSC at Hibs games, and some good nights in The Hibs Club.

I’m posting this as one of the main Shamrock Rovers Matchday Programme writers seeks to pen an article on a Hibs fan(s) who may be travelling to Dublin for the friendly game on June 30th, who also attended Scotland games at Euro 96.

If anyone would like to have a chat with Karl the Rovers Matchday Programme writer about this, just send me a DM and I’ll put you in touch. Cheers.

If you are travelling, and you need advice on pubs, let me know, and I’ll try help as best I can.

Hope this is ok with the Admins. Thanks again.

Temple is dear as fuck or will be?.

£18 for a gin and tonic... 9 euro for a pint.

Hope hibs are subsidising these prices 😆

We are heading over but wont be going anywhere near the fan zone lol.

EH,

If you’re looking for a decent pint don’t waste your money in Temple Bar. It’s the classic of traps for your coinage.

Molloys Pub in Tallaght is about a 10-12 minute walk up the main road to the stadium. Many Rovers fans use it pre-match on match days. We’ve brought the Twenty Sixteen crew there before when they were over on hollybops, and they’ll attest that it’s a decent watering hole. The Red Line tram from Abbey Street in the city centre will take you all the way to Tallaght (last stop) and from there with Google Maps, the pub is about a 15 minute stroll. Not far.

If you’re staying in town and want a good pint, try The Confession Box, O’Neills, Mulligans or The Palace Bar. All have good bar staff and serve a good pint of Guinness at less expense.

Cheers
Paul

Good selection right there, Paul !!! 👍
Be the first time in years some Hibernian's will have been in a Confessional Box ➕ let alone leaving without 3 Hail Mary's and an Act of Contrition !! 😂
Grand of you to list the good quality pub guide for the discerning Edinburgh Hibernian drinker!!

Peader Kearney’s round the corner in Dame Street is a great boozer. 6 euro last time we were there.

Stokesy's da hasn't opened anything new since the Players Lounge closed, has he?🤔😂

I'm not widely travelled in Europe, I've not been to Temple Bar since before Covid, but I cannot imagine there's anything quite as Hellish as Temple Bar anywhere on the continent.
There was nothing as Hellish in Prague, Berlin or Hamburg when I was last there. Never been to Amsterdam. Never been to Bali. Not been to Bangkok for ages.

I used to know Soho in London very well, 40 years ago, but strolled around it in horror a couple of years back. It's tacky, lads sniffing lines off Lamborghinis, open dealing, largely unpoliced - but it didn't seem threatening, lads looking to rob tourists operate elsewhere, stag/hen parties were conspicuous by their absence, and a pint was marginally less expensive than in neighbouring Mayfair, Bloomsbury or Covent Garden. None of those "redeeming features" apply in Temple Bar.

One thing that was worth a look was the Casa Rebelde shop on Fownes Street, but I gather that's long gone. It resembled an official St. Pauli merchandise store, but they had some great t-shirts. I'm surprised Bohs didn't take it over. They could have invited Greta to open it.
At least the Celtic Club Shop in the Jervis Centre has also died.

The areas of Dublin I vaguely know are the North Inner City, but that's the wrong side for Tallaght. South of the Liffey, I quite liked Inchicore, by St.Pat's😳. Transport to Tallaght from there is likely to be OK.
I certainly won't be going near Temple Bar and I'm unlikely to be in Tallaght too far ahead of kick off. Why couldn't Rovers have moved north to Malahide, rather than to that kip?😂
