Howayas!

Born in Dublin, spent my life split between there and North London. Lifelong Arsenal fan, never able to afford a season ticket for them but went to as many games as I could.

Moved up to Edinburgh in September and miss football dearly so time to support my local team. And I mean local. I live literally a two minute walk away from the stadium.

Picked up my season ticket for next year yesterday. Very excited for it. Since I've started watching Hibs they've been unbeaten. I'm sure it's always this easy :lookaround:

Football is tricky, it's hard to break ties you've had your entire life, but the Premier League is grim and I'm really grateful to be able to go see and support a club with a bit more of a community feel.

Cheers!

Welcome. You may like know that Bill Shankly educated Bertie Mee on the Hibees.
You've probably heard the song by now.
Other mutual links: Joe Baker and Peter Marinello.

Welcome to the Bounce. Hope your luck holds for a few more games!

Welcome to the bounce, good to have another Irishman in the flock (am no one, although many of us have Irish roots, but others are). Crack on.

And Alex Cropley. :sparkle-cool:

Hibs' white sleeves are said to have been inspired by Arsenal in the 1930s.

I'd always understood that it was Harry Swan that introduced the white sleeves to Hibs and that article (showing a couple of our finest) appears to confirm that. A mention of Swan feeling that Hibs players would be able to see each other better whilst wearing the white sleeves seems plausable.

There's even a sort of lineage from Forest through to Hibs as the former gave Arsenal their first strips with the (solid) red shirts.

Another player who has played for both Hibs and Arsenal. Before my time, Johnny MacLeod. Right winger, Johnny turned out for Hibs 101 times before going on to Arsenal, appearing 130 times. Looks like Johnny had a great career as he further went on to play over a hundred times for both Villa and Belgian side, KV Mechelen.

The ex-Hibee is still with us at a grand 86 years-old.

@Stu do you know anymore? Where he lives, could we contact him for example?

I don't personally mate but reading around, it seems that through Arsenal would be a good way of contacting him. He's a member of the Arsenal 100 Club, which is their nearest thing to a former players association. Some career by the way, scored for Hibs at the Nou Camp, both Barca and Roma were interested in signing him. He played in three teams with Joe Baker, Hibs, Armadale and Arsenal. His record transfer fee to Arsenal of £40,000 paid for new toilets at Easter Road!
