Edinburgh roads

The maternity unit and sick kids is at ERI not all services are available at the Western.
If your having a bairn or your bairns ill your no going tae the hospital on a tram, are yi?

It wouldn't be feasible to run most specialisms in the two hospitals at the same time. That's on a medical basis rather than a financial or any other reason.
Why? I keep reading of long waiting times, if there was specialisms at 2 hospitals the waiting time would disappear.

The Western doesn't provide all of the services that the Royal Does.
I know that and thought so does everybody else. The Western has an A&E and outpatient departments so cover quite a lot of care issues. The RIE was already too small before it was finished. This always seems to happen with schools, motorways and hospitals, crap planning.

Long waiting times is a different issue. Both hospitals are probably running close to capacity doing what they do so you'd need to build another 2 hospitals, next-door to the current buildings for that to work.

On the medical side surgeons (and other professionals) need to perform the same operations on a regular basis to keep their skills at the best levels. Take neurology (backs and brains). There are only 3 venues in Scotland because there just isn't the throughput to justify more although I understand Edinburgh and Glasgow have grown. There's also all the specialist equipment.

The Sick Kids was moved to the ERI because many of the specialists also work on adult wards and it made sense to keep everything close.

Which was sorta my point. Build the 2 specialist wards at each hospital. It wid be cheaper than the trams tae build.
Trams are a waste of money IMO.

We should have re-opened the South Suburbon Line. Cost a fraction of Tram Cost and far more effective. Station at Mayfield Rd direct to Easter Rd perfect.

The Western has strippers a Minor Injuries Unit. It's nurse led, I understand and not open 24 hours. All the A&E experts are at the Infirmary.
I live kinda midway between the two hospitals so I don't mind which one I get sent too, except parking at the Western can be a nightmare. At my age the maternity unit angle is not such a problem. :grinning-smiley-045:

I live 500 yards from the Royal. I had tae go tae the Western last year and got a bus from the Royal tae the Western, nae bother.
I dinnae need tae worry aboot the maternity angle either... my DIL is a midwife :gigglle:

I live a 10 min walk from the Royal and never been in there for anything yet.

St Johns and the Spire private hossie in Murrayfield for me.

As long as the council dafties can get their taxis into the bus lanes they won't care.

Or do the dafties use public transport at night like citizens have to do?

I'd make the fuckers use public transport at all times. If they want a taxi let them pay for it like others have to.
I wouldn't let them claim for travelling to or from work. Last time I got bus fares 4 quid a week paid for a pass.

Don't know, Briggs was the last place I got it. My son gets time and a half for driving to work or single time for sleeping when somebody else drives.
Used tae get it when I worked on the sites back in the 80's. Wisnae sure if its still a thing.

All still the same up Lasswade Road folks. Nose to tail from Captains Road for about 2 miles

FFS. What's going on now? Was OK(ish) last night when I picked the wee man up from nursery, and Drum Street was back open again.
I think they close it off in the morning and open it at night again.

The 3 and the 29 are diverted along Station Road.

Shut again Kev. My lassie said they hardly done anything yesterday. I drove right doon tae Limefield and could have got all the way through. They only had cones over half the road. Didnae need shut doon. Cvnts are at it.

We listen to Fabulous 103fm radio when we're in the car. There's a fair amount of adverts for restaurants in the area, almost exclusively upmarket places where *&*^ with more money than sense can take their girlfriends for some scran.
The joke is there's a new buzzword being used in nearly every advert now "affordable" what the fuck does that even mean? Affordable for who?
Sounds like "hey you daft fuckers it's expensive here but we'll soften the blow by saying it's affordable in a patronising manner"

Thay was the archetypal jambo in the 80s, augmented wi perm and tash. And black shiney keks maybe with a jumper tucked into them.

Glad to see traditions being maintained!

Lot of Merricks up that way to be fair. Our Moredun Merricks were slightly different.

Better clothes they could snowdrop in Moredun.

Reading that the reopening of Cameron Toll has been put back a week, 19th May the new date... weather permitting:rolleyes:

Bypass Westbound is taking 1 hour from Gilmerton to Baberton due to flooding

Bypass Westbound still at a standstill from waaay back past Sherrifhall all the way to Baberton.

I took the choo choo from the wild west to work today, train done 20 mile an hour there and back due to rain? Have I moved to the fucking Kalihari? It's pissed down my whole life here.

Our pal works in the middle shop in Loanheid. She belled whilst I was having a beer at my mates.

40 mins after she left her work and she wasn't out of Loanheid yet.

We took the back road from Dalkeith to Moredun and the North Esk at Lasswade was like the rapids in Deliverance.

Inch park under water tae Jimmy.

Ach that's miles away and it's no Moredun so who cares? 😉

Well being an auld union man then they should still be paid.

Add their wages onto the council tax of them living in the inch.

Sorted.

Bet she made it to work whether there was flooding or not.

You mind the poor geezer who got Weils disease and died a few years back when they were trying to stop the Inch Park flooding?

He had a cut on his hand or leg and it got infected by rats piss or something.
