Edinburgh roads

I am going to guess that is so?
Does the Scottish Government have it's own Transport Minister? If it does then that means no dosh for Scotland, Wales or NI, not from that particular source anyway.

UK Minister. Not sure if devolved powers mean none of that money gets up here.
The UK minister announced that the money to fix the potholes would be taken from the money not spent on HS2.

I suspect this HS2 money will be mentioned every time the Northerners whinge about anything that needs money and 'spent' many times over without ever getting spent at all.

Of course Northerners are our southern neighbours and like the plans for HS2 the spending in the north won't be as far north as the northern bit we're in!

JFC! Is Longstone Road ever NOT being dug up? Three way temporary traffic lights at the Chinese supermarket. Popped out to Sainsbury's for a couple of bits and pieces. Took over an hour. 🤬

I’ve always said, Edinburgh council boast of an international city, but have a small village mentality. solely based on tourists as nothing for the locals. they have no idea on how to run this city,
Don't know about that the issuing of parking tickets must be second to none.

So my neighbour was telling me that yesterday the number 8 bus could not come up Craigour Avenue because cars were parked on the road and not halfway on the pavement.

The only way i can see this being sorted is double yellow lines or else the numbers 8 and 400 get re routed.

Up one side wid dae it.
We got to 'vote' on double yellows years ago in Craigour.

We told the clowncil to git tae.

So they dug up Moredunvale Road. Closely followed by Moredun Park Road.
Then Ferniehill Drive.

Cannae see them altering the bus routes. There’s nae room on Moredunvale Road for 2 buses passing each other.

When they were doing all the work on the bridge just at the burn the 8 went up Dalkeith Road onto Ferniehill Drive then onto Moredun Park Road.

The 400 went Dalkeith Road then Ferniehill Drive and up to Gilmerton crossroads.

Mibbes dae that right enough. What ever they dae it'll no help the residents.

Na. Derek next door has a laddie with severe downs syndrome.

His one respite when young Derek has a carer in is going up to the Nest on the 8.

Then getting it back again. The man's in his 70's.

Cannae do the hill. Because it's a fucker of a hill if your no 100%.

Fuck knows what Edinburgh citizens have done to get these arseholes on the council running things. It's like they do things just to piss us off.

Those fuckers shouldn't get a travel allowance. Give them a bus pass and let them travel like thousands of citizens have to.

But we work late they wail. So do thousands of others who have to use public transport.

They want taxis hame? Pay for them themselves.

Edinburgh is a mess just now trying to get from A to B.

Got through and home from Glasgow tonight in about the same time it takes to get from one side of Edinburgh to the other. Fair enough it was at night, but the absence of dug up roads was very nice all the same.

Could i just clarify i don't mind how the cars are parked there because the pavements are wide enough for folk to pass.

The pavement could actually be brought in a bit. But na. That would take years and would probably be fucked up by the end of it.
Buses no getting up past yours this morning Jimmy because somebody has parked opposite another car. Left enough room for a car so I think he’s legal.

You can get done for that.

I'm sure in Edinburgh and other places, a team of traffic wardens, police, tow truck and a fire engine would go round notorious streets testing to see if the fire engine could get through. If it was close they got a ticket, if it couldn't get through the offending car was towed away.

Wasn't that long ago.

No sure this auld geezer is just awake. Good wee guzzle in the Colliery last night.

I've seen dafties park their cars right at the bus stop. Park in front of driveways as well.

If it is 2 cars parked adjacent to each other that is creating the gap too narrow for the fire engine which one gets the ticket/towed away?

The person that parked second thus creating the problem is the one at fault but how do you prove who parked 1st/2nd?

Not my problem 🙃

I'd book both and let the drivers appeal if they thought it wasn't their fault.

Looks like they have dug up the road. Again.

That's about three times in a year that the Drive/Avenue junction has been worked on.

Therein lies the problem.
Not parking on pavements enforcement should have come been accompanied with a ton of the narrow streets only allowing cars to be parked on one side.
In the street I live in cars are no longer parked on the pavement but are still parked on both sides of the road. There is enough space for cars to get through. I have my kill at the number of useless bastards that can't get their 4x4 through the gap. Their means far exceeds their driving ability.
The solution in narrow streets is for vehicles to park away from the pavement so that it allows all vehicles to get by but doesn't tempt folk to park opposite them.

A fair few of the motors parked in Craigour Avenue are hospital workers.

No got a problem with that but they need to start thinking about buses or emergency services getting past.
