Since he can't play in the semi, his last chance to make a commitment to Hibs is to sign a new contract now and boost the team for the match of the century. Otherwise forget about claims to be with us. NOW Deek!

The rumours appear to be that he has signed but it's not going to be announced until next week..:dunno:

Can't help thinking that, if he has indeed signed, Hibs would have been desperate to release that news before the Semi Final. Even if it was too late to sell tickets it would be a great morale boost for players and supporters alike. TM's comments seem to suggest there is still a possibility of Deek signing but I'm becoming les optimistic as time goes on. Having said that, I'm becoming more optimistic about Sunday's result.:bbb:

Surley they would have announced it at the same time as Murphy etc:dunno:

I think they are holding back the announcement in case we need some good news next week if the worst was to happen on Sunday.

Makes no sense. It would give the team a lift before the game. Afterwords may make us feel better but does not have the same effect.

Maybe Tony doesn't want the focus on one player not involved in the actual game..:hmmm

Christ we're clutching at straws to keep positive on the Deek's situation..:rollfloor

Is this the 40th time he's meant to have signed ?

If he had signed, would it no make sense to announce it before the semi ?

This has went on far too long for me like, I'm resigned to the fact he's leaving, if anything different happens, then it's a boost

Deek wont sign with Hibs, even if we made him the best paid player ever at ER, he could still get more going someware else. Garry O get 18k per week, no way will Deek be happy with say the 5k we could manage.

He will do the dirty on us, but who can balme him with the sort of cash available now adays.

The only thing that annoys me is the fact he's in the papers saying how much of Hibee he is, how he loves scoring goals for his beloved Hibs etc etc, so why no sign a deal ?!?!? IMO I think there's something went on behind the scenes.
If he leaves, then good luck to him !! He's been a special player for the cabbage.

Fair enough he is a Hibby through and through, but the offer of say 10k per week plus, your financal security guaranteed for the rest of your life by signing one contract ala Gary O, who can really blame him if he goes elseware.

I just hope it is abroad or down south, if he goes to the OF I will be devistated, all the goals he has scored will quickly be forgotton about if he signs for the smellies. Even worse than Ihun Murray as Deek has the ability do really hurt us.

Ideal scenoario, he signs a 2 or 3 year deal with a release clause, makes sense, but It won't happen.

I think his move to the huns will have went down the pan, Le Guen will flood them with French, unless Murray decides to do a Romanov and sign him.

Strachan has said he aint interested in him, he already has good young Scottish players there.

A move down south would get him the money, I have the feeling though he'd end up back at Hibs sometime in his career, you can take the boy out of Pilton, but can you take Pilton out the boy :hmmm

I think this rumour is very suspect and a load of Bullshit. Love to be wrong though.

5 years time a front line made up of Millionare O'Connor and rich guy Riordan, both back a Hibs, now that would be cool!!!

Riordan signing a new contract shouldnt make a slight bit of difference before the Semi. The team and the fans should be right up for this game anyway and it shouldnt take a contract signing to lift spirits for the game. He's been with us all the way and will be untill he leaves. Personally I dont think he wants to leave.

i think if we could just come up with a the right contract he would stay. after all he is still young, the idea of having to move down south or abroad probably doesnt appeal to him.

we should do a wip round on sunday the "keep derek at ER" campagn.

i dont think they are going to have any problem getting motivated 2moro. if he has signed, the team probably already know anyway, anouncing it officially is for our benifit not the teams.

anybody know if benji is going to play?

is there going to be anywhere at all to meet before the game?

Dont think its going to happen. Ive heard strong rumours from posters saying he has signed then i hear strong rumours from other posters saying he will not. All the posters involved are respectedish long term posters so someones nose is going to be out of joint :hmmm

Spoke with Garry O's mate this afternoon, apparently he wants to fly all his mates out to Russia so they can take in a game and sample the Russian hospitality, he said he's lovin it and it's the best thing he's ever done.

Well done big man, c u in the Ship on your return :applause:

As one of said "respectedish long term posters", I'll be posting cast-iron info on DR's situation early tomorrow/Monday as to why I believe DR will NOT re-sign at Hibs .. on .net - if I have time I'll do so here too.

I fear the worst, although I've always hope until it is confirmed otherwise, not as a "respectedish long term posters" mind you. But as a Hibby of 30, nearly 31 years.

We can't pay the cash his talent deserves, why should a footballer not do what we would all do faced with a similar situation in our working lifes ? He is after all a talent that will put bums on seats.

All the best and good luck to the lad whatever happens. Unless he goes to another Embra team then he should go with our blessing.

Actually, I'd respectedish you more if you posted this 'cast-iron' info on both sites simultaneously rather than imply that the Bounce is some sort of after thought.

Or I would if I had the time.

Fair enough. :thumbgrin

It's just that 'some of us' aren't welcome on Hisnet, and prefer a site where the majority are Hibs fans rather than Gunts.
I'm sure you would be a welcome guest of the Bounce, and maybe in time you will graduate to be a Bouncer rather than a Hisnetter.

We are just as big Hibs fans over here, and a bit more tolerant of posters who aren't clones. If you have serious news, (or just pish jokes) then this is the place to be.
:yeah:

It's surely not that he's going to sign as soon as he gets back from the garden centre is it
:rollfloor :rollfloor :rollfloor :rollfloor :rollfloor :rollfloor :rollfloor :rollfloor :rollfloor

I'm sick of all these "I've got inside info" types .
If he signs he signs , if he doesn't he doesn't fuck all we can do about it :sad

I won't hold my breath waiting for the news that he has officially signed. If he was interested imo he would have signed on the dotted line before now when all the other players were showing their loyalty. Best of luck to him.:sad

Let me start with saying that I am posting because sadly I believe the euphoria about Riordan re-signing is completely and utterly misplaced.

Given what I am about to say, I cannot see how, despite his love for Hibs that, Derek Riordan will re-sign at ER.

Just thought I'd let you know the latest with regards to Riordans management ..

1. Tickets for the Semi

Some members of his family had booked their tickets through the player, only to discover this week that they actually have none Hibs told Derek to tell the family that as he isn't part of the squad he's getting no tickets.

2. Training

Friday - He goes to training today, only to be sent on his own to run around Arthurs Seat. He doesn't need to be training with the team given he's not part of the squad, was the reason given to him. Saturday will be the same Arthurs Seat on his own. Although there are other players training there with the squad who aren't in the squad for the Hampden game.

Saturday U-turn .. he's now told to train with the others to make up for those not fit for the semi.

3. Travel to the Semi

Then he's told that he does not have to travel with the team - and can travel with the rest of the families* on their coach he decides to travel with the team. The player subsequently hears that one of the management was hoping he wouldnt travel with the team ...

* This despite the fact none of his family are allowed on it or not part of the official party as such.

4. Travel from the Semi

Riordan wanted to spend the night in Glasgow with his girlfriend - he has been denied this, as the club is insisting he goes back to Edinburgh with them after the game, although officially he's nothing to do with them for ticket arrangements or wasnt needed to travel with the team to the game !

5. Fined for an alleged assault

There have also been a serious of petty fines applied - with no parity with others in the squad, for timekeeping. Including a weeks wages because some woman phoned to say DR had tried to assault her boyfriend .. no evidence, pure fabrication but the player is fined.

So Id be staggered if following this man-management if the player re-signs.

If he leaves then IMO its little wonder giving this treatment; and those ready to have a go at the player should consider how theyd react to this scenario if it was them.

Personally, I cannot see why hed want to stay after being ridiculed and singled out for separate ticketing/training/travel/ arrangements.

IF he does sign, then it says EVERYTHING any of us need to know about his love for Hibs, and his desire to continue living the dream. It is certainly not about financial gain .. greater riches lie elsewhere - like the 10K offered by Cardiff, or the phenomenal wages GOC is seeing in Russia, or indeed with the OF.

I re-iterate my previous comments on this matter he doesnt want to leave .. It seems however he is being left with little alternative.

I sincerely hope my info is WRONG, and I am eating humble pie and celebrating Riordan re-signing with the Hibs soon .. somehow I doubt that will ever happen.

TQM

Interesting post. Some feckin outrageous and frankly IMO disgusting content.:sad :sad :sad :sad :sad

Can we be told who exactly is it within the management not too happy with him? Venus? Mogga? Who?

To be honest I'm surprised Riordan hasnt told Mowbray to shove his team up his arse if that is true. Then again he is a fan and is showing a lot of commitment living with that and still performing for the club. If true that is. If its Mogga treating him like that, maybe Mogga should take a think that without him he'd be nowhere. But I dont belive it.

Bottom line IMO is that Derek Riordan has played a greater part in our recent 'success' than anyone and i include Tony Mowbray in all of that.

Proof today is that a manager is only as good as his players. Ask Mogga and ask the Yam coach/manager/trainer/spy/interpretor..

If all of that is true, then it is obvious that Derek IS being forced out.
However, as his talent on the park is clear for everyone to see, it begs the question.........why?

It is clearly NOT just to clean up with a transfer fee.... that scenario has passed. It seems 'someone' just doesn't want him.

My money is on Mogga.

I'd just like to know why he has so little time for Deek; if of course the rest is factual.
