Come on Barca

1-1 first leg

I will go for 3-2 for Barca tonight

A goal fest, Barcas weak defence allied to their fantastic attacking play will see them through

Woohoo!!
Great start to the game so far.
tempo will be like this all night

Fantastic player that RONALDO laddie . Bit like Gareth bale .......? eh NAW !!!!!;

It was a penalty, dinnae talk pish.

He fell under Alonso, definately feel that if he had stayed up Alonso would have ran through him (Like Di Maria on the edge of the box)

Fabregas a passenger so far and Alba a fuckin embarrassment at the of the first half. Big improvement needed from Bara to win this one.

Madrid have got a bank of 5 and a bank of 4 in front of them whenever Barca have the ball in Madrid's half. Making it very difficult for Barca to break them down.

Just as Milan did in the CL last week.

Stupid penalty to give away also, Piqu didn't need to dive in like that.

Mon Barca.

am i the only @@$@ watching Aberdeen and Ross County then....:lookaround:

Is that the game on the tattie field:hmmm

:giggle:
The pitch is shocking
I see Rc have took the lead, minutes to go

Aye, the pitch certainly looks capable of producing a fine crop of King Edwards. :rascal:

Staggies deserving their lead i`d say. Ivan wasnae happy about being subbed either, took a wee huff..:giggle:

2-0
Ronaldo.....again

Got the weak defence bit right....

I'll get hammered from the Barca disciples here, but aaaaanyway...

Much as I like Barca's lovely football, it's not the be-all and end-all of football existence. When really good sides like Madrid, Milan et al set up to counter their game, they appear to lack the capacity to vary their play. That is, in my opinion, undeniably their Achilles heel. However, they're so good that really only other very good sides have the quality to exploit it.

I remember having an argument with my pal when Chelski turned them over - and I am absolutely NOT a Chelsea lover, far from it - but the whole "anti-football" schtick wore a bit thin when you looked at Chelsea's vastly depleted personnel. Sometimes it seems to me people get all indignant when teams decide to try and counter Barcelona, rather than stand on the pitch and admire them.

I reiterate - I think they're a great side and I love watching them, but they don't have some divine right to trounce all in their path. Some of their followers, however, seem to be turning into really bad losers.

I actually agree with you, they seem to be easily countered by good teams now. As for the devine right and sore loser comments, I hated Madrid before tonight, I hated Gerry Armstrong before tonight too, I don't think anyone has a devine right to anything either?

I wasn't singling you out or anything, mate. I just meant in general.

As to the initial point, do you think the inability to vary the play is down to personnel or a sort of bloody-minded adherence to their game? After all, it's not like they haven't historically been able to mix it up a bit - I remember the team with Hristo Stoichkov in it, they could play virtually any style you could think of.

As great as Barca have been over the last few years, this may be the beginning of the decline. They are still fantastic and will still win trophies, but without a 'plan b' they'll struggle to over come the tactics of sides like Chelsea, Milan and Madrid deploy against them.

The Bayern Munich model could be the next great example in football: they have all the work rate and application of Barca off the ball, but they have the ability to mix it up in possession while still being a joy to watch.

Hate the sky commentators it's like watching real madrids own channel.

Here he is, it's Mr Neutral. Had to laugh at a Hibs fan slating Milan for anti football for having the audacity not to let Barca play their freeflowing football. Hibs get wins in Glasgow with the cavalier 4-3-3 approach right enough :surp@

When you've fallen out of love with the Barca wankfest, what do you do when you can't chuck your scarf on the pitch or rip up your season ticket? Throw the remote oot the windae and set fire to the armchair.

Cheer up, your wee team's got some big games coming up :thumbgrin

I have followed Barca since I was a kid, I will defend them on here wherever its required, I don't take it personally.

The have the same 4 3 3 playing style from 8 years old to the first team, its doesn't change. For me they over play it too much now, the old fashioned walking it into the net syndrome. I also think they are lacking a leader off the pitch and there seems to be player trouble too?

Scheiss Bayern :pf:

The key players aren't doing that little bit extra that they're capable of. I guess it's hard to sustain that extreme standard of excellence. That - In my opinion is where Barcelona are suffering at this time.

Barca are the best side in the world to watch when they`re in full flow, imo. They do seem to struggle now with top sides who sit in and stifle their playmakers. Coaches now have a handle on how they can set out their team to beat them......you still have to have the qualities to do it of course. It`s up to Barca now to find a way to win against this tactic.

When i said "top sides who sit in"....i didn`t mean the Smellies of course who just got fuckin lucky.

Christians 2 Lionels 1 this efty.

Not if the ref had not been a cheating bastard, denying Barca a clear penalty in the dying seconds. It seems the Huns of Spain are favoured as much by refs as the Huns of Scotland.

And the Celtc of Spain play the ref bias card....

Did Valdes chin the ref? My mate says he ended up in the cells.

Watch it mate, its a disgrace. Valdes was going mental, and was given a red after the game as he squared up to the ref. Will find out more.
