I remember Abercrombie getting 3 red cards in a game. Got something like a 12 match ban.
He was a long term alcoholic. Was in a bad way in his late 40's, was on and off wagon after that so his liver did well to limp on until he was 65.

He was St Mirren captain in 1987 when they won the Scottish Cup.
Big part of Fergie's superb young Buddies team of the late 70's.
