I didn't actually know what Oligarch meant so looked it up. It means a small group of businessmen who hold considerable political control. I wonder if most of these guys are that in the true sense. Certainly some probably influence the Tories with cash, but do they have influence in Russia? It appears they don't have much influence on Putin. Also are they all definitely crooked, or did some actually work their way up legally?

If they weren't known as Oligarchs they'd be known as a mafia families and Putin would be the heid honcho.

Oligarchs, billionaires fae Russia,we tend to call them 'entrepreneurs'.I like to call them rich bastards.

I would like to be rich, some people might think I am already the second part of that statement

Davy's hit the nail on the head. In among all of the understandable calls to do something about oligarchs, there is the key issue on what they are? Rich Russians who may have got there corruptly and have links to the Kremlin seems to be the best guess. But what if they are not Russian (I think Abramovich has an Israeli passport). How to prove they started corruptly and links to the Kremlin is a particularly vague term. Do Brewdog have links to the Scottish Government? If so then so what? This illustrates the problem with everyone wanting to act on something that quickly gets really difficult to determine what that is and who it should be aimed at. And if we can't be clear on that how can we develop measures that everyone seems to want?

I'd be too busy enjoying it and giving a portion away.
