As the thread title says what are you're top 5 Dj's/ Trance groups/ acts?

Mine in no particular order would be;

- Deadmau5. ( as per the avatar )
- Sied Van Riel.
- Faithless.
- Calvin Harris
- Swedish House Mafia.

Calvin Harris just shades it from Leon Bolier & David Guetta for me.

:hmmm

1. Swedish House Mafia
2. Above and Beyond
3. Ferry Corsten
4. Myon & Shane 54
5. Super 8 & Tab

Guetta used to be good. He's lowered himself though with all the more commercial stuff. He's a bit like "RedOne" who produces songs for Gaga and Alexandra Burke. Don't get me wrong, the tunes are normally decent enough but I wouldn't say they are uber special.

In no particular order:

Tiesto
Swedish House Mafia
Sander Van Doorn
Armin Van Buuren
Tidy Boys - can't help it, love the TB's!

Must add, Faithless were outstanding at Global Gathering, although i was that minced my gran could have been up on stage and i wouldn't have noticed.

1. Tiesto, controls a crowd like no one else!
2. Eddie Halliwell, no one can mix like him, he really is amazing!
3. Deadmau5, went to see him in Ibiza last week, unique style.
4. Ferry Corsten
5. Marcel Woods

swedish house are wayyyy to commercial to be on a list of top Dj's, they only have 3-4 songs?!

'tis an easy way to add all 3 to your list of top 3 DJ's though. Axwell, Ingrosso and Angello are all impressive. Tiesto not as commercial no? :dunno:

Impressive yes, shouldnt make it on a top 5.
Go see tiesto in the weedge this saturday, then ask if he's commercial!

That could be said about Swedish House Mafia though. Set wise they are not commerial and DJ suggests to me songs they like to play. A bit like a tiesto gig... majority of the songs won't be his. However his tracks are commercial imo.

Good DJ though I'd agree with that.

Fair point, but any music produced that is being marketed directly to the general public is commerical? I dont think tiesto does that, very rare to hear him on day time radio..

If you wanna talk commercial then look no further than guetta!

I probably should have had Eddie in my list, gotta agree, never heard anyone mix like him.

I do fancy tiesto on sat but I find it hard to justify the ticket price even though I know his show is amazing.

best ive seen are
Laurent Garnier
Sven Vath
Grandmaster Flash
Joris Voorn
Booka Shade

the bottom two were both much better when they were billed as being live.still decent though the times ive seen them doing dj sets

used to love trance moving away from it abit now though into the techno tech house side of things top 5

1 Luciano.
2 Sven Vath.
3. Eric Prydz.
4. Ricardo Villalobos.
5. Richie Hawtin.

:thumbgrin

Tiesto used to be my favourite dj but i'm not that keen on some of his more "recent" stuff. However all his older stuff like "lethal industry", "traffic", "adagio for strings" and some of his "in search of sunrise" mixes are still top notch. Like Owen said Guetta has become too commercial now but the majority of the stuff he does nowadays still has a good beat about it. Would like to see him release more of his own stuff instead of doing daft collaborations with rappers etc. Still think that Faithless are unbeatable live, i was 20 feet from the front at TITP this year when they played and when "Insomnia" came on the ground was shaking and I mean literally. Would recommend seeing Faithless live to any fellow bouncers as they are brilliant. :077:

I used to love my trance but I'm more into my House and Techno these days.

1.Sander Van Doorn
2.Marcel Woods
3.Tiesto (commercial as fuck but he was phenomenal at priviledge when i was there in june)
4.Ferry Corsten
5. Above and beyond

My current favourites

1. Sven Vath
2. Dubfire
3. Richy Hawtin
4. Green Velvet
5. Erick Morrilo

I find trance as a genre incredibly cheesy. I've been to Ibiza and all the big clubs etc when I was younger but found them all same-o same-o, with the music only being good or bad depending the quality of drug consumption. More of a french house/ laid back DnB kinda guy should I feel the need to dance. I find this 'too commercial' excuse for not liking a musicia.. er artis.. guy who plays records (that'll do) just plain silly. If they're signed to a record label, HMV sell their records and they charge you an arm and a leg for gig tickets they are commercial.

Very few DJ's take risks in those big venues.

What I'm sort of saddened at is Edinburgh used to have a very soulful House music rep - there is little if any House Music mentioned on this thread.

Does anyone like house music on here?
