Drink up thy cider! Our English brothers in green and white play in almost exactly the same strip as Hibs, but they drink rather more scrumpy than most of us do ;) Introducing the newest arrivals to English 3rd Div footie, the recently promoted Yeovil! This is their dedicated thread :D

There are a few uncanny similarities between the Hibees and Yeovil. Both wear green shirts with white sleeves, both played on grounds with famous sloping surfaces and both have reputations as giantkillers (Sunderland and Barcelona). Are there anymore?

Congratulations to Yeovil :)

I've always had a soft spot for them, and I hope to see them ascend the english leagues now that they have finally made it!

Welcome Mick :D Aye, another similarity is that both sets of fans have a similar attitude to football and life in general, to judge by your unofficial website. Also, both groups appear to be pissheads :D

Here's the link:

Greetings to Hibs fans from deepest Somerset. We've added a link to this forum from our own on the Ciderspace website.

Always had a soft spot for Hibs meself, probably because of the green and white connection, and we have our own flying Scottish winger at Yeovil - the (soon to be) legendary Michael McIndoe. Why hasn't Berti picked him for Scotland yet?! :D

Regards to all....

Another striking similarity is that Yeovil's traditonal local rivals Weymouth wear reddish brown shirts, a similar colour to what Hearts wear.

Yeovil

And another striking similary between Yeovil and Hibs is that they are both supported by Jock Glover, born and raised in Portobello, Edinburgh, but now residing in Portobello Towers, North East Somerset.

i would just like to extend the hand of green friendship to our green brothers north of the border...up the glovers!

Cos Berti's a f@nny who wouldn't know a decent player if he fell over one!

Just headed over here from Ciderspace...nice idea this Green Brotherhood thing. It's nice wearing a colour thats a bit different, not a slightly dull red or blue! Anyway, hi to everyone, and I hope to be posting on here regualarly in the near future!

Get yersel registered Westland, and that goes for the rest of you Yeovil guys!

Tell you what - if there's enough interest(And i think there will be) You will get a Division 3 match visit from the Hibees Bounce!

Could anyone post here something about the club Yeovil, History etc. Just for my understanding, as brothers we should know something about the history of each other I think.

YTFC began as Yeovil Casuals in 1895 and merged with another local team to become Yeovil and Petters United in 1921. Became YTFC in 1949, the same year we beat Sunderland in the 5th round of the FA Cup (a bit like if we beat Man Ure today in terms of shock value I guess). Always been non-league right up until next season, won the FA Trophy last season, won the Conference this season, average crowds of 4,700. Lost our old ground (Huish with its famous sloping pitch) to Tesco's 10 years ago, new ground (Huish Park) holds 9,400 approx with 5,000 seated. Nickname is the Glovers because of local leather-making industry (now mostly gone, Westland Helicopters is the main local employer these days) main rivals used to be Weymouth (seaside scummers) and Bath City (Barf) but I guess we'll be looking more to the likes of Bristol Rovers/Bournemouth in the future....

You can find a whole bunch of photos of our championship party v Chester City at the following URL:

Was brought up in and around Portobello maself Jock...also when I moved away it was to your local rivals Weymouth (for a short time..it is a tip) then Bournemouth...now London...

Coincidences indeed.

Looking forward to a trip to see YTFC next season some time.

Cheers

CH

More coincidences. One of the Yeovil players Roy O'Brien is Irish and 'Hibernian' is the Latin for 'Irish'. Also Yeovil's Scottish player Michael McIndoe is a native of Edinburgh, where Hibernian are based.

Strips

Hi Guys have just found this link on Ciderspace and thought I'd head over & say Hi!

Have a look at the news section of the official site (www.ytfc.net) and vote for which home strip YOU prefer!
