Normally around now prior to the World Cup starting l start to get excited, even when Scotland isn’t in it.
But for some reason it’s not happening for me.
Is it because it’s being played in three different countries?
Is it because Trump has tried to make it his?
Perhaps it’s because the Scotland squad with a boring manager does not look that impressive, while England do look decent.
Not enough Hibs players to watch?
I don’t know what it is, perhaps once it gets going I might get interested. I hope so.
Does anyone else feel the same?

I've pondered this myself. Of course I'm delighted that Scotland are taking part but I think it's partly to do with too much football in general. A lot of years ago. a famous football manager in these parts opined that 'You don't want roast beef and Yorkshire every night and twice on Sunday'.

He was spot-on all those years ago and he still is.

Yes

I'm feeling the same tbh. The price gouging of tickets has left a very sour taste in most fans mouths.

When you also factor in the current geopolitical climate ,then you can totally understand peoples lack of appetite for this particular tournament.

The World Cup has lost a bit of it's prestige over the years.
The first WC I can remember watching was in 1974 and there were only 16 countries participating including of course Scotland.
Now there are over 40.
I'm pleased Scotland are back at the WC and I really hope we can get through the group stages....but it's overkill.
I also think the heat will be a big factor in this tournament leading to a lot of slow football.

Geopolitical climate. Great phrase and sums up my standpoint perfectly. Sounds petty but I’ll be avoiding anything to do with the World Cup. My own futile gesture to that shithouse country and its fucking lunatic in charge.

This is the same boring manager that has got us into 3 of the last 4 tournaments right?

The price gouging shouldn't really affect you...as your not going.

Is it cause your about 10,000 miles away from Scotland?

Many questions.

It could be an interesting World Cup for the statto men.
How many sideway passes before attempting to get the ball over the halfway line?
Bored already, before a ball is kicked.
Probably not restart the game when a goal is scored so they can show a couple of adverts.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts too. The titting around at the back and the emphasis on the high press and defending from the front has killed all the enjoyment from the game. Its for robots in systems now and anyone with an ounce of skill is dismissed as a luxury player who can't be carried.

Scotland have scored 3 goals in 6 games at the last 2 Euros. One cracker, one deflection and and one own goal.

If we’re going to qualify we’re probably going to need to score 3 goals and score in two of the games

Over the last 50 years Scotland average around 0.7 goals a game against the half decent teams.

Our forwards don’t score. One nailed on pick - Dykes - has scored 1 in his last 21 caps. Adam’s has 1 goal against decent teams in 46 games and his numbers are padded out with goals against Lichtenstein and Gibraltar.

Clarke lauded Stewart for his goals in big games after a play off goal…only for his team to be thrown out and the overlooked Oli McBurnie to steal the glory in the play off final.

Kieron Bowie has been scoring in Serie A away to the champions Inter and away to Juventus and isn’t quoted either. Instead Findlay Curtis and Tyler Fletcher are in the squad. I’d say that’s petty point scoring. Extending his contract to 2030 before the championships just seems like rank bad management from top to bottom.

Taking Craig Gordon when he’s hardly played in 6 months is just nostalgia gone mad.

I hope we do it and qualify but, yes, as a regular home attendee I’m finding it hard to get excited about it.

I think we’ll beat Haiti pretty comfortably. They might be the weakest team in the tournament. They lost 5-1 to Curacao only last year. Pumping them alone might be enough to get us out the group. If we don’t do that (narrow win or worse) we’re in deep trouble.

I'm looking forward to it always do. The only hang up is most of the kick off times. Also 5 games in one day some days where they clash and I need to chose what game I'll watch. That takes away the special moment for that nation imo.

Yeah the KO times are a real pain. I always try to watch every game at world cups and Euros but that won’t be possible this time. I’m looking forward to it too.

I'm the same I'll watch every game usually. Kick off times and the clashes make it impossible. I think they need to come away with one game on opening day if they want to keep it with extended amounts of nations imo.

I didn't engage with the last one on principle, and found that an incredibly easy principle to stick to. I might keep an eye on Scotland's results but I'm not sure I'll be watching anything.

Red-ball cricket really is the ideal summer sport if you can acquire the taste

Major struggle to get any real interest. Previous one totally passed me by. Just money, money and dodgyness.

I am bored by football in general these days even Hibs is more of an identity thing.
