Hello chaps and chapesses..
My laddie is 14, 15 in October and is going into 4th year at School after the summer, he is now looking to set up work experience for himsel in October, he has to start looking to set this up as soon as he can, get it all sorted early, early bird catches the worm etc.
He wants to be a PE teacher, and his grades in all relevant subjects are very good, also very good in his business class, maths etc
He is football daft, but as his PE teacher says, he is very good in his application of most sports and is good at communicating...nothing but good words from all his teachers at his Parents night last night
He is hoping to get involved in some kind of sporting working experience, ie street soccer, primary schools, any kind of experience in this kind of sector. We have already been in touch with his old primary school, but they say they might not be too keen on ex pupils doing this, but his PE teacher at that school is also at another and said he would love it if he could sort it for him at his other school.
But i would like to get him as many options as possible.
Once things are ongoing, he will be doing the rest himself to acquire this as the school has said that is how they would like it.
So if any bouncers have any ideas or even in a position to help it would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

What about trying Spartans to see if they have anything Hattie? :dunno: Would be worth a try.

Could do, we phoned Hibs but they said they do not do this as he would need a disclosure etc, they can only have paid employees under contract at the club, which is completely understandable tbf.
Spartans may be worth a shout.

I must state though, it doesn't have to be just football if anyone can help.

Cheers G&G

I was at one of the job center open day things the other week and there was a company called Street Soccer Scotland looking for people, I spoke to the boy for a wee while and it all sounded interesting enough.

Non-profit organisation, helps adults and kids throughout Scotland, don't know about age requirements or anything like that but it sounds like something he could volunteer with or gain some experience etc.

And if you fancy shipping him off there's other programs in Scotland that send folk all about the world to do the same type of stuff in foreign countries, sure I read a story about someone who went off to India to do sports work, can't remember the name of the company though, sorry.

Yeah we are already trying with them Hammi, will see what they have to say.

His head teacher also put him onto SoccerAmerica, a camp where he can work voluntarily during the summer, all over America, paid expenses etc, but that would be he is a bit older though.

Cheers Hammi

Never even thought about the American camps, a few folk I used to hang about with went to do that Camp America, said it was better than they ever could have imagined, and something they'll never forget.
But aye that'll obviously be when he's older too. Good on him :thumbgrin

My eldest did his work experience with the SFA SE Regional team with Keef, Neil Orr and Co. They had him working on their October football camp and then in the office as well. He loved it. If you know any of the development officers might be worth picking up the phone. It was David Sheldon who organised ours.

The one thing about this is that the employer has to complete a fair bit of paperwork (insurance, risk assessments etc which can put a lot of places off). It is a right pain in the bum for schools as it makes authorising self found placements more difficult.

Hopefully you'll get something sorted out. :thumbgrin

My laddie has also been involved in a sporting/coaching context with both the people who are offering you help so can vouch for them :thumbgrin
