read today that the mps get telt the result before it's announced. totally spoils trying to judge it from their coupons.

I was involved in a count today and the candidates and agents get told before its announced formally. Gives them the chance to challenge. Although, recounts are down to the returning officer.

I was surprised that candidates and agents hang over the folk counting whilst they are doing it (although they have to stay behind a tape and aren't allowed to touch anything).

All very interesting.

That's to do with trying to get a picture of your vote ward by ward. If you have a good team you will have a good idea of where you stand even before you are called before the returning officer and you know what you will say in your speech.
