Who`s have thunk it?

Load of shite anyway , honours should go to normal folk doing things because they care rather than multi millionaire sports stars / actors etc

Whilst I agree, Knighthoods are chucked around quite freely. Jimmy Saville anyone?

I can`t help thinking racist thoughts here, Sir Tim perhaps? However, that`s just my personal view.

As for Beckham, he does a lot of fantastic youth work, but didn`t captain England to a World Cup win.

Murray, in one year, copped the fucking lot, including The Holy Grail.

He could have done no more, and probably will never eclipse it. Whilst I don`t think the laddie himself will give a shit, it`s still a bastard disgrace.

I think high profile English are always more likely than similar Welsh or Scottish for some reason . I think more Scots ordinary people get awards than the big stars :dunno:

Quite.

As for ordinary/extraordinary people, I agree totally Daz, but that`s not really what this is about.

I find this quite unbelievable, that`s all.

Wouldn't surprise me if a quiet word was had with Murray to enquire whether he'd accept one and he told them no ta.

He'll get it when he retires. NO doubt there are counter examples but it's usually a lifetime achievement award kinda thing

'Honours' and even invites to Royal Garden Parties are always 'checked out' in this fashion. An informal 'would you accept' comes first and only if you sign up to agree does the formal stuff come out. It's to keep to a minimum the number of "I turned down the Queen" boasters.

However, I doubt if Andy would knock it back. It would give his mum a chance to buy a new hat.

More likely it will be 'services to tennis' when he retires from the sport and gets a ST at Easter Road.

Aye, it's actually my sisters new job to organise and run these ceremonies for her Maj in London...she went for a part time job voluntary job and walked away with some sort of fancy gig....'they' had to do a back ground check on her parents and siblings, clearly my credentials were impeccable and the foundation for her being offered the job.I quizzed her about this sort of stuff yesterday and boringly, she refused to discuss the highly confidential and juicy aspects.

I suspect that he know being announced on court as SIR Andy Murray would seem a bit silly. I suspect US and Aussie crowds would fail to warm to it as well.
