Evening troops,
Unfortunately wont make Thurs but have been beavering away on sussing out a venue for the xmas do. How about either of these?

McPhabbs - Sandyford place. (Thurs 16/12)
They have a function room down the stairs which they are in the process of putting a wee bar into. Good venue for a party although a bit tight, but I would guess our turn out to be 30-40 (inc partners???) whcih would be fine. They can do a top buffet for 10 a skull, or cheaper for a simpler scran. Need to negotiate seperate for that. You also get your own barman. Anyone who feels like bringing decks can do so and plug them into the amp in the pub.

Times Square - St Enoch Sq
Function room is too big for us really (100 capacity) but the buffet is only 4. Still need to go for a look at it, but the bird is holding it for us til after the weekend. Bar isnt in the same room.
Neither venue has the Fri available. In fact these are the only two I can find with the Thurs free.

Jimmy - just let me know the consensus via the minutes.
Cheers

Cheers Dougie. :applause:

On Thursday we all had a chat about it and it we decided it was between your McPhabbs on 16/12 and another idea, Bourbon Street, on 22/12.

Problem with McPhabbs was that 16/12 is the date of the Yams v Ferencvaros game, and there are a couple of diehard fans who rarely miss a Ferencvaros game  who are thinking of going through to Murrayfield that night.
Also McPhabbs got glowing reports but we were worried that nobody would bring their decks, and that Jimmy may break the silence by telling some of his "jokes". :-D

Yesterday Jimmy made enquiries about Bourbon Street - the full package, meal, tribute band til 4am etc is 38, a bit steep, eh ?

He has therefore suggested we cut out the meal malarky and meet in town for a couple of schwallies and then go to Bourbon Street for the band etc, ie just miss out the meal bit. Free entry (I think), open 10 til 3.

Whaddya reckon ? :dunno:

Brian,

If you skip the meal at Bourbon St you still have to pay to get in. I think its only a tenner though.

We had better ensure that a load of us will be able to get in as they may not get in if 30 or so half drunk guys turn up at 10pm

No probs Bri. I'll tell McPhabbs to unpencil it then. Isnt Bourbon all Rod Stewart tribute acts and that? With a crew of radges would prob need to advance warn them, maybe even get tickets up front.

tickets up front is a good idea. BTW I wouldn't pay a tenner to see the real Rod Stewart
