Almost 1000 accounted for as dead but could rise to 50,000! Another routine earthquake? Maybe not. Saw a podcast from some site called world academic podcast. It claims it is because of USA drilling in Venezuela, and particularly Trump's drill baby drill measures in the country that has caused seismic shifts. They say no way should a second tremor be bigger than the first.

But if drilling is the cause then how come other places where drilling takes place have not had earthquakes?

No idea if it same or differe t. Just came across this post so threw it in for conversation. Ive also heard about how after the USA attacked that rains started, but not finding evidence of dams filling etc. A lot of claims and counter claims, but good to have an open mins if not to tge extent of bexomung another Ryan :54:

It certainly is good to have different views Davy.

As soon as I say your post I had a gander and found those other things I posted.

I know America can be held responsible for some of the worlds ills but I'm no sure that any earthquakes are down to them.

Could be wrong though 🙄

Only 2 rigs currently drilling off Venezuela. However the Venezuelan Government plans to get rig count up to 90 odd by 2028 so they don’t seem too worried. I’m not sure we/they can lay the blame at Trump’s door (in this case). Often years of planning and seismic surveying goes into a well before a rig is even hired and Trump hasn’t been running the show that long.

Although there have been numerous earthquakes with two or even three primary shocks of such similar magnitude that picking one as the main shock can be somewhat arbitrary, it was not until the 1970s and 1980s that studies of seismograms showed that some of these were not simply unusually large foreshocks and aftershocks.[12] Other studies have shown that about 20% of very large earthquakes (magnitude above 7.5) are doublets,[13] and that, in some cases, 37 to 75 percent of earthquakes are multiplets.[14

Looks like a load of shite about it being impossible to have a bigger earthquake very close after the first one

Doubt we will ever know the whole truth. So much going on that both sides jump on anything that happens to prover their points. For example that it started raining after Iran hit back at USA bases, was said to prove America was creating the drought in Iran. Yet other reports say that it is because Iran has started cloud seeding. Some people believe whatever it is that fits their agenda.
Not ever read the following but just showing how claims and counter claims are everywhere.
