Last night i watched the BBC 10 O'Clock News... I was astonished at the reporting. No coverage at all of any Labour Campaigning.... But a nice wee Nick Robinson (known Tory) piece on Dave and Samantha Cameron...

IMO the BBC is hardly pro Labour and has been desparate to get rid of Labour since Hutton.

Last week I was at a Labour event; Gordon Brown gave a stump speech that lasted about five minutes before launching into an hour-long lecture/slideshow on the subject of how globalisation has affected the idea of humanitarian intervention in the 20th Century, talking about the changing sense of responsibility that led to things like the UN and the World Bank, and making reference to apartheid, Yugoslavia. Next topic was what he saw as being cornerstones of international relations in years to come, and what he felt the role of the UN should shift towards and what he felt government was capable of achieving. Miliband, Alexander, Ainsworth and G Kinnock were all on hand during the subsequent 45-minute Q&A on related topics (the role of charity, the questionable wisdom of tethering our intervention in the Middle East to the Americans, etc etc). Some of the audience were informed of the event through the local labour party, but most people there were representing various charities (WorldVision in particular).

The Telegraph - certainly a Tory paper - reported it thus.

The BBC report described his strategy of 'not even mentioning Nick Clegg' as 'damage control' during a 'highly partisan Labour rally'. They weren't even biased, they were simply lying.

Suggesting the BBC are collectively even faintly on the side of Labour is ridiculous, as anyone who's watched Dimbleby chairing Question Time in the last two months or so will agree.

Watching BBC Parliament you get to see the real campaign.

BBC mainstream is desperate to see Cameron in number ten. Just where is the reporting of the policies? It's all about personalities.

No wonder all the parties are no longer doing daily press conferences as they did for generations. What's the point? It doesn't get reported.

Spin? Politics has a lot to learn from the media. Still.:tuttut:

Not the point I'm making - although the BBC was in it's day massively pro-labour, and is certainly least sympathetic to the tories (Nick R is the odd one out in leaning as even you must admit)

But the real point; Their influence is far more profound; pushing all three major parties to the liberal consensus we now have.
