Thought Police

Whether you like UKIP or not, this seems a bit extreme banning kids from looking up their website..Hampshire school calls police after pupil looks at UKIP website - BBC News

I read that and was angered by it, but it may have been the EDL look-up - the story is curiously presented given its the Beeb.

Now if it was about the EDL that's bad enough - if it was about UKIP heads should roll or at least people should be sent to the kind of reeducation camps they would be if they called a 'chalk board' a black board. This has gone far enough, our schools are turning into madrasahs for a mad new kult and with no parental option to choose this kind of religious schooling or not.

Reports from universities are telling us of the results as anxious little witch burners try to ensure that universities are turned into the opposite of places of learning.

We stop this nonsense or we'll end up with our own Donal Trump.

I read the article. The school contacted the local constabulary seeking advice, most likely on the EDL aspect, which is fair enough. The kid probably told everyone what all the sites were he visited but the media like to jump on the UKIP part and highlight it as establishment suppression because they've got a boner for anyone who is slightly controversial that makes headlines.
I expect our own extremist - foxy all over this thread shortly.

I'm sorry but you think a school needs to call the cops because someone looked up a feckin EDL website? Feck sake. Quite apart from the one sidedness of (doubt the rozzers would be getting a call if they looked up UAF or swp) what happened to teachers ? On one hand they're supposed to be social workers dealing with all the wreckage that washes up on their shores, on the other they're supposed to be religious police ensuring no one has an incorrect thought, and yet at the same time they cannot deal with a kid looking up a neds website without the rozzers being involved? What kind of dystopian vision is taking shape here?

No. I don't think a school should be calling the police for this and a great many other bollocks. It comes down to abdication of responsibility. Nobody wants to be the last one holding the parcel when the music stops and the finger of blame is getting wagged around. Except the police who are last in the line when it comes to duty of care after every other agency has passed the buck.

It depends on the policies of the education authority.

You seem to be upset that UKIP is involved and unsurprisingly UKIP are upset too.

However the policy seems to be around extremism and the boy was looking at an EDL video. I would suggest that was what flagged up the policy buster.

Out of curiosity I've seen a few of their videos, not right through I hasten to add, and quite frankly they disgusted me.

However the fact the boy was looking at these seems to have been glossed over. It probably wouldn't have made an outrage media story portraying UKIP as the misunderstood innocent wee lambs they so obviously are.

Funny you should mention witches..the opposite was true for a friend of mine a few years back. The girl who will remain anon, worked as a learning assistant in a school in middle Edinburgh. She would go to staff meetings for the younger children's staff, after school, not sure if they were official staff meetings. Anyway she became dissolutioned when 2-3 of the staff dominated the conversation with talk of their white witch involvement and actually gave her a book on white witching as a gift. She stopped bothering to attend the meetings. Nice to know where the religious traits lie in that school then. :popcorn3:

Your former colleagues have been giving training to teachers up and down the land showing them how to spot a young person being radicalised.

I had to spend an afternoon being trained by a policeman in how to spot the potential terrorist in the classroom and being told by him we had to report it to them. I had to sign to say that I had been told this and shown this. We can now lose our jobs if we don't report things like pupils using the internet to read material or reports on extremist views. The training included the traditional Ulster/Irish terrorism links, Daesh, National Front type groups - the full spectrum.

It's a government directive.

According to a report in the mail (which would probably be flagged itself) The EDL thing was on the bbcs website and it was the UKIP website that had the alert on it.

If this is true it's a disagrace though sadly not a surprise.

Another timely example. Universities are breeding intolerant little monkeys who have the gall to accuse the likes of Peter tatchell for being phobic of something or other, are homes from home for Islamist recruiters and harbour cadres of mental lefties busily normalising anti semitism, but criticise gay marriage from a private Facebook account? Even being black won't save you...
