The Russians, like everybody else outside the west, still understand the way the world is. If they get a decisive outcome in Syria it will be interesting how it is received in the world and in the west.

As others have pointed out many times over, there is good and bad in every culture. I do not particularly condone beating people up either, but this is what happens when the authorities that have the power to stamp on such things fail. I worked with a Russian a couple of years back, nicer person I would honestly struggle to meet. America is also good at selling and giving arms to people they decide are "the goodies" then changing their mind and having to fight against their own weapons. Britian also had ships sunk by our own exocets. I would not measure morality through any culture to be honest

one word, Crimea. Or ask any Ukrainian in the east about the lovely Russians. When it comes to rape Russia is in no place to take the moral high ground, but one watch of RT and you'd think they were whiter than white.

I doubt the people involved started the war in the Crimea. I imagine they also have plenty rapists. But if I saw someone groping my girlfriend or trying to rape someone I don't think I would be holding back either. But hey lets just let people get away with anything because we generalise a whole country based on it's political actions

Are people not generalising on Germans ? They cant do f'all as they'll get the whole WW2/Nazi crap levelled at them The minute they lift a hand to anyone they are automatically new Hilter, and especially if they are of colour.

I doubt the gropers have faired any better in Poland. I think the point is, that leaving aside the communist rape machine and other charming Russian achievements, those in central and Eastern Europe don't seem to have bought into the self loathing and subordination that has been inculcated further west.

No. We fall over ourselves to excuse, what about or relativise while always making ourselves out to be worse. This is not to say every single individual does, but culturally we've gone bonkers.
