The Specials drummer, John Bradbury, has died at the age of 62.

He joined the band in 1979 and remained in it after the split and reformation as The Special AKA. He also co-wrote "The Selecter"joint "A" side and still my favourite Specials song "Gangsters".

RIP 'Brad'

Sorry to hear this. He was a great drummer for The Specials and The Selector before that. Both of the songs are great. I had the privilege of hearing them both played in Tiffany's in Stockbridge in 1979 when the 2 Tone Tour hit Edinburgh (Madness, The Selector,The Specials).

Sad to hear. As well as him and Lemmy, Guru Josh has gone today - a rather smaller star but those from the 'rave generation' might remember.

RIP to all.

Sad news - had the pleasure of seeing The Specials a few times, great off beat ska drummer RIP

Ahhh... I also just posted about Guru Josh - hadnt noticed that his death was mentioned here already

Sad to hear this news. Terrific drummer and on a personal note a bit galling when performers from your own generation start popping off this mortal coil.

I saw that '79 Two Tone tour too - here in Notts. It was the most unlikely venue, Kimberley Leisure Centre which was a bit like seeing The Selector, Madness and The Specials in say, a tiny venue in Prestonpans. On that night The Selector got a good reception and Madness stole the show. Terry Hall spent much of the evening in a bad tempered performance falling out with boys in the audience - not that smart in a tough mining town!

Rest in Peace, John Bradbury

Desmond Dekker passed too - many happy memories of seeing him at scooter rallies and at Gaz's Rockin Blues.

That doesn't narrow things down much given how regularly Norman passes on.

Oh God - the internet does my head in. At least when a newspaper is old you can wrap your chips in it...
