The Peanut Farmer - RIP Jimmy Carter

100 years old.
Won the Nobel Peace prize in 2002.
It was the disastrous hostage rescue operation in 1979 which finished off his chances of winning a second term.
I liked him though. He seemed a decent unassuming sort of guy.

RIP Jimmy.

That,Nicoragua,Afghanistan, and the fuel crisis probably did for him.But in comparison to Ford, Reagon, the Bushes and Trump he was a brainbox.

Reagan was a great president, whatever spitting image taught us to think.

Whether he was intellectually a match for Carter I have no idea, but it’s not a Mensa test at the end of the day. I suspect Clinton was the cleverest for example, and he was a disaster for the working class, and a seedy fecker.

Carter did seem a nicer bloke than all that followed though, and in general post Clinton - who was the above but also a supremely canny politician - the calibre of candidate seems to have gone through the floor.

Bush Jnr, Obama, Biden, Trump… people like that should be nowhere near the whitehouse, and nor should defeated contenders like H Clinton, Al Gove and Kamala Harris.

Jimmy Carter had more good and humanity in his pinky finger than Reagan(Iran-Contra scandal) or the warmongering Bush's and certainly more than the imbecile ,who is about to take that great office, will ever have had in his lifetime.
An extraordinary man who did so much in his retirement years for peace and social justice worldwide.
A truly historic and influential figure.

I've no idea why every time he is/was mentioned peanut farmer was always by his name. Now and again former actor Regan got similar but I honestly don't know the previous occupation of any other President.

I mean it's not as if he did the President's job from the peanut fields or took a month or two off Presidenting to bring the crop in! He was The President doing President things the way Presidents do.

Anyway RIP, as others have said he seemed a decent type, Jimmy Carter, former President of the USA and former former peanut farmer.

The Dixie Democrats of his youth were segregationists .
Divided the Democratic Party in the South for many years.
Had Jimmy Carter expressed his real views in opposition to segregation (Jim Crow Laws ) in the Georgia of his youth,he may not have succeeded in becoming Governor of that State.
Jimmy though became a great fighter for civil rights/social justice throughout his political career,...... and beyond ,as the obituaries show.
Yes ,he was a very successful peanut farmer, too ! 😁

The guy about to assume the Presidency does not have a peanut farm .
However,he should be in the funny farm,as he is definitely nuts ! 🤪
